The Greatest Mock Offseason In The History Of The World Since My Last One

LETSGOBROWNIES

Recommended Posts

Sooooo.....I’m bored and figured I’d put one together. Savor the flavor, I don’t do it often ;)

Free Agency

QB AJ McCarron (3/45 million, but has outs).  This is a little bit of my want, but mostly what I think will happen.  Hue loves him and I don’t think will be a better option available who will be interested in playing here, so Dorsey acquiesces.

WR Terrelle Pryor (3/21) They give him a deal that allows him to save some face, but like McCarron’s will have an out if he doesn’t regain his 2016 form. Provides a big bodied red zone threat and starting caliber player to pair with Gordon on the outside and allow Coleman more time in the slot.

CB Kyle Fuller (5/70) He’s young and talented and plays a premium position.  He’s going to get PAID. We need a quality starter though and have plenty of money.

FS Ron Parker (2/10) Dorsey brought him in to KC initially and then paid him 5/30 as a FA, so it’s safe to assume he likes his game. Provides a day one starter if needed but mostly veteran depth on the back end.

Resign

C Marcus Martin (3/8)

Extend

RB Duke Johnson (3/16: used Gio Bernard as comp)

DT Danny Shelton (5th year option)

Draft

1: QB Sam Darnold.  Front runner for being the first player chosen for over a year now.  Let’s not overthink this.  With Dorsey in charge, I’m not worried about that happening.

***Trade*** Y’all knew I wasn’t picking at 4 lol.  Combining my desire to move down, and Dorsey’s desire to add impact players this year, the Jets trade us pick 6 as well as a 2nd and 3rd in 2019 to move up ahead of the Broncos for their QB.

6: FS Minkah Fitzpatrick. How bow dat? We got a stud and some picks to pair with him. Adds a playmaker to the defense.

33. CB Carlton Davis. For those not paying attention in 2017, we need some better talent in the defensive backfield. Davis has top tier physical traits and the length Williams likes.

35. RB Sony Michel. Well rounded back that can come in and make plays and ease the burden on Darnold.

64. DE Sam Hubbard. Nassib and Orchard are JAGs at this point and should be competing for one spot. Hubbard is a complete prospect that should be able to contribute from day 1. Played S in high school and is familiar with coverages so should be able to add zone blitz versatility if Williams desires.

65. WR Anthony Miller. Skilled kid that knows how to run routes and make plays.  Doesn’t seem to have ideal speed or size and history of fumbling knock him down draft boards a bit.  Should start season as 4th WR.

97. LB Josey Jewell. Not a sexy pick, but capable of contributing both on defense and special teams. We’ve had some fringe LB’s at the bottom of our roster th least few seasons, and Jewell helps remedy that.

119. OT Desmond Harrison. Dorsey has a history of rolling the dice on guys with checkered pasts if the talent is there. Can’t say I’ve watched the kid, but supposedly an elite athlete at OT, just needs to add weight (278 lbs at senior bowl) and lay off the weed.  He’d be joining a high character, veterans filled OL room though. Potentially Thomas’s replacement, has that kind of talent apparently.

129. OL Mason Cole. Sketchy depth leads Dorsey to double dip on the OL. Has played up and down the line and can provide a lot of versatility in a reserve role.

150. RB Bo Scarbrough.  One trick pony as a human sledgehammer, proves a short yardage option that neither Johnson or Michel possess.

161. WR Deontay Burnett. Dorsey throw Darnold a bone and brings in his favorite target to compete for a roster spot.

193. LB Matthew Thomas. Stud athlete, mediocre football player. High upside player brought in to see if he can win a roster spot in camp.

Depth Chart

OFFENSE (26)

QB: McCarron, Darnold, Kizer

RB: Michel, Johnson, Scarbrough

FB: Vitale

WR: Gordon, Pryor, Coleman, Miller, Burnett, Louis (special teams)

TE: Njoku, DeValve, Telfer

DEFENSE (24)

LB: Collins, Kirksey, Schobert, Jewell, Burgess

Cheese and rice that was exhausting.  Have at it.

I think we could potentially get more from the Jets trade up considering it's for a QB ahead of the Broncos. But I wouldn't complain.

I obviously would like Barkley at 4 too but I definitely understand the thought process that doesn't involve him and would be good with that if it ends up giving us the right picks elsewhere.

I think he's a DEFINITE guy that's coming here. I mean, we tried to trade multiple high picks for him last year and now he's a free agent.

It makes sense for everyone. A low priced WR #2 who had success here, provides a Red Zone threat, and it's low money.

I'd love it. We have $59 million we HAVE to spend. May as well spend it on him.

I have no idea who this is, but that's fine with me.

I feel embarrassed. No idea who this is. Sure...why not?

Absolutely. He's our best play-maker and at worst a great hybrid RB and elite 3rd down back.

We'd be fools NOT to pick it up.

Those who don't believe in love at first sight haven't seen Sam Darnold.

Fine with me. But, I'm also trying this trick:

"Wait...hold on one sec, the Broncos GM is on the other line. *LONG PAUSE* Hey guys, sorry to put you on the spot, but we've got a serious offer. Is that your best offer? Sorry guys but I need to know now."...just to see if they panic and sweeten the pot.

He's being evaluated as a true corner according to an article I saw this morning. I wonder if he's going to be an overhang guy in the box with a nickel CB. If so, that's what we're doing with Peppers. I wouldn't hate this pick.

I'd be all for this as well.

If Guice is gone, absolutely. However, I'm not sure how great he'll be at thumping/running between the tackles. He could be another Duke.

I'm not sure he last this long, but if he's still there, pull the trigger.

He impressed me in what little I saw him this year in the 2 games of his that I watched.

He has to be better than Tank Carder.

Now THIS would make sense if you're going the Michel route. He's a definite bell-cow/workhorse. Plus, I think that if he stays healthy he could be the total package at RB.

I REALLY like this mock. Now I have my hopes up. I'm blaming you when this all goes south.

I like it....I am working on my latest Mock and also had us trading with the Jets moving from 4-6 and taking Fitzpatrick....and I had similar trade compensation, with us getting the 3rd this year and the 2nd in 2019.

I like a lot of your draft....I prefer to go a little more Wr heavy than Oline heavy....I feel there are 3 young Olineman on the team I already want to see how they develop (Ruiter-C, OG/OT Drango and OG/OT Zach Banner......I also go CB a little later and go a little heavier with CB, addressing the #1 postion in FA....

I'm also trying to figure out how to swap Cody Kessler and Nate Orchard for picks or to move up in the draft with picks. I think they both have NFL value, but because of the way I think things will play out, I think both will be gone.

Sounds about right to me, I’d just prefer the picks next year as we already have so many this year.

I’d like to go a little heavier on WR, but I don’t love this class. I also don’t know what we really have in Coleman and Gordon at this point, especially with decent QB play.  Can Pryor regain his form? I’d probably put WR towards the top of this list next offseason when, hopefully, we have a better idea of what’s going on there.

If you figure that out lemme know lol, because I’m not seeing the value.

Any team that wants those guys can draft a similar player day 3 and get the full rookie contract.

I had the same concern until someone pointed out to me to watch more film on him. I’ll do the same to you. Watch more film on him.  He definitely can run inside. He’s better than duke who would complement him perfectly. I’m very high on Sony. No not the electronics conglomerate. Tho they’re good too I guess.

@LETSGOBROWNIES

Everything about this off season is just plain terrible. I don't have any rational reasoning to back up anything I am about to say but;

A.J. McCarron? Terrible signing that is going to fall in line with the vast history of career backups getting a big pay day and then sinking their new franchise deeper into suck. Even if we do sign him you would be wrong on the money. I bet he gets a deal similar to Blake Bortles.

Terrelle Pryor? Another terrible signing and for way too much money. He got 6 million last season and stunk it up. I doubt that improves his market. He's a one year wonder.

Ron Parker? If that is what we are shooting for then I guess we want to set the all time NFL record for consecutive 0-16 seasons. Honestly that is about the only thing a signing like this could ever lead to happening.

Marcus Martin? Trash. Let him walk. He's a former bust who has never help a team in this league win anything.

Duke Johnson? Fragile and doesn't get enough touches. Not worth the risk to sign long term.

Danny Shelton? Fat lazy turn. One trick pony and really only good at it. If he were a great run stopper then maybe. Just let him play out his contract and say good riddance.

1. Sam Darnold at #1? Sure he is big and strong with accuracy and elevates the level of his team around him but he looks like a big dumb ogre in everything he does and obviously he is not a true competitor or he would be throwing with the other guys.

6. Terrible value in the trade down. We are getting ripped off. Pick was even worse. Minkah is a nickle defender and honestly not even remotely the same caliber play maker Tyrann Mathieu was coming out. He is bigger that is about it.

33. Carlton Davis? Plays DB about as well as Carlton Banks dances. Could have used this pick much wiser IMO.

35. Sony Michel? Dude has a girls name and he runs like one too. Fumbles that ball far too often. 6th rounder at best.

97. Josey Jewel? We don't even remotely need linebackers and why if we did draft one then why are we drafting another Christian Kirksey? If we need one bad enough to draft one then I would hope we are drafting to get better not stay the same.

119. Desmond Harrison? Character issues and build like a big TE as opposed to a lineman. He will get ruined in the NFL.

129. MICHIGAN SUCKS

150. Bo Scarborough? Terrible. Has no wiggle to his game. Straight line power guy who will fail just like every other Alabama RB.

161. Deontay Burnett? Tiny WR with no proven return skills. Can be brought down by a 6 year old girl.

193. Matthew Thomas? Another LB and a terrible one at that. Poor angles and iffy tackling.

I don't believe a word of that entire post but apparently we are now mortal enemies and I figured I should do the enemy thing.
