Lions Needs from https://sports.yahoo.com/2018-nfl-team-needs-041500466--spt.html

Defensive Line: The Lions’ pass rush was nonexistent in each of the last two years, and now RE Ziggy Ansah and DT Haloti Ngata are free agents. Detroit was desperate enough for late-season pass rush that GM Bob Quinn signed Dwight Freeney off the street. DE Anthony Zettel is a promising edge prospect and LE Kerry Hyder’s (Achilles’) return should help, but multiple pass rushers and run stuffers are needed on the Lions’ front.

Cornerback: The Lions have No. 1 CB Darius Slay signed through 2020, but rotating No. 2s Nevin Lawson and D.J. Hayden are free agents. With Quandre Diggs moving to safety, slot corner will be open to competition involving 2017 second-round pick Teez Tabor, although Tabor earned only 190 rookie-year snaps. In New England, new Lions coach Matt Patricia mainly employed man coverage on the back end.

Interior Offensive Line: Running back and outside linebacker are additional needs, and both will likely be addressed by GM Bob Quinn. Up front on offense, Joe Dahl would be Detroit’s left guard if the season began today, and Graham Glasgow would start at center. Whether it be at left guard or center – Glasgow can play both – the Lions need another interior starter, pushing Dahl into a swing role. LT Taylor Decker, RT Rick Wagner, and RG T.J. Lang otherwise form a solid nucleus when healthy. Unfortunately, Decker, Wagner, and Lang combined to miss 14 games.

Results:-

1.Cleveland - Sam Darnold [QB] USC

2.NY Giants - Josh Rosen [QB] UCLA

3.Indianapolis - Bradley Chubb [DE] NC State

4.Cleveland(From Houston) - Saquon Barkley [RB] Penn St.

5.Denver - Quenton Nelson [OG] Notre Dame

6.NY Jets - Baker Mayfield [ QB ] Oklahoma

7.Tampa Bay - Minkah Fitzpatrick [ FS ] Alabama

8.Chicago - Denzel Ward [ CB ] Ohio St.

9.San Francisco - Tremaine Edmunds [ ILB ] Va. Tech

10.Oakland - Roquan Smith [ ILB ] Georgia

11.Miami - Marcus Davenport [ DE ] UTSA

12.Cincinnati - Connor Williams [ OT ] Texas

13.Washington - Vita Vea [ DT ] Washington

14.Green Bay - Derwin James [ SS ] Florida St.

15.Arizona - Josh Allen [ QB ] Wyoming

16.Baltimore - Calvin Ridley [ WR ] Alabama

17.LA Chargers - Rashaan Evans [ ILB ] Alabama

18.Seattle - Isaiah Wynn [ G/T] Georgia

19.Dallas - Da'Ron Payne [ DT ] Alabama

Maurice Hurst and Billy Price.

Mo Hurst.. position of need, in-state guy, arguably BPA.

Price, because a top RB won’t matter much if he’s got no one opening up lanes for him. Should never have let Warford go.

Wouldn’t complain if they go Guice though. He just feels like a pick that makes too much sense for Detroit. They’ve never had a good running game, great RB is available for fair value. Then again they made the obvious pick in Jarrad Davis last year so who knows.

crazy to see Detroit not needing corners for once. dont remember if I've ever seen that before

Well, they need a 3rd CB, but that can be solved by re-signing Nevin Lawson and/or DJ Hayden. Certainly not a 1st round need.

RB is a need, but the GM & HC both come from an organization that values RB's like dirt. A 1st round selection at RB would be shocking to me.

LG is a need, but that hopefully will be filled in free agency (Josh Sitton ?). I doubt Bob Quinn wants to go into the draft needing an immediate starter on the OL for the 2nd time in 3 years.

LB will also be a need, but just like with OL, ideally it's addressed in free agency so they don't have to spend a 1st round pick there two years in a row.

That basically leaves DT & DE as needs. Harold Landry and Maurice Hurst are good fits and worth it at this spot. Either would be a good selection.

Only for the sake of argument, you probably already know I disagree on both. Just for this post, I think Jackson and then Key in the second would be a much better value.

I like Key, it would be a steal to get him that late in the draft. I just don't get Josh Jackson for the Lions. They will need someone that can play inside and out, Jackson just isn't good enough in man against quicker WR's. If they were to go CB I think they would more realistically target someone like Jaire Alexander or Denzel Ward. If they still had Tony Oden and Teryl Austin maybe I'd be comfortable with them taking a risk on Jackson, but I have no clue how well our CB's will develop under the new coaches.

Yeah, Denzel could have been the perfect pick for you guys.

Think Malcolm Butler may be in the Lions' future?

It's possible. He and Patricia have a good relationship and the Super Bowl benching might hurt his FA market enough to make him affordable for the Lions.

Butler to the Lions would be one of the top 5 FA signings of the offseason
