I mocked us Michael Thomas in the 2nd round that year too. SMH even more.
Chrissooner49er
I like Pettis just fine. May end up better than Thomas. I liked Garnett, but it looks like he may be a bust. Too bad.

Valid points you bring up, but it is more game style simulation then a WR vs CB drill. Luckily for us, Jimmy G has a extremely quick release so he will compensate for some of the shortcomings for McGlinchey as a pass protector. To be fair, to see an improvement on last year's offense with Jimmy, McGlinchey only has to be better than Zane Beadles. Jimmy didn't play with Trent Brown in the lineup. Sure, it's a drop-off in pass pro from Brown to McG, but is it really a drop-off from Beadles to McG? If we could have a decent offense with Zane at RT and Jimmy at QB, can't we expect to be better off with McG? Better yet when you consider how superior his run blocking should be. That alone is going to be huge. If we can establish a stronger running game this year than we had last year, it will help the entire offense, even the passing game, therefore, McG should have an easier task than Zane and even Trent had, when we were more one-dimensional. For sure, one of the reasons I was so optimistic about Jimmy G was what he did with the supporting cast that he had. People say the team was playing with house money, sure. But he also had Kilgore at C, Tomlinson at LG and Beadles at RT. Then he didn't have Garcon as Robinson/Murphy were the starting WR opposite Goodwin. The OL overall is still underwhelming. No clue what happens at RG and McG will have the usual rookie issues at RT.

I agree that it is closer to game style simulation than WR/CB, since those use even more of the field that will be occupied by other players. And the speed rush point is valid, though a back who is pass blocking could also help clean that up.
