I can 100% see them trying to modernize that **** and it turning into an absolute **** show where they get cracked up producers telling the director to put in giant spider hallucinations. Hellraiser absolutely needs a remake. I HATED Hellraiser because it gave me the Heebie Jeebies really bad in the wrong way, but it's still a good movie suffering from being terribly dated. It might as well have been made in 1940 for how well that acting and directing have endured. That remake is instantly ruined if they put CGI into it though. Just like any horror. Any horror that puts in any CGI whatsoever deserves to bomb and bomb hard. Horror is one genre that has to be photorealistic in every shot. Night of the Hunter doesn't need a remake, but the story could work very well for modern audiences. They'd likely do what WB has been trying to do, create an adult demo product. Watchmen is a great litmus test IMO. There's a million comic stories they could have done to discuss race. But they picked this as their platform and stretched the intentions of original characters so far that it can't come across as anything more then a propaganda speech. On top of that they had some porn parody comic con guy painted as Doctor Manhattan and all he could do is make some waffles. The writing would have been fine had they left the original characters out of it completely. But they went full Glenn Beck with their "out there" assumptions and comparisons.
