So the two guys we didn't bring in didn't really work out.

From some quick research, this is what the second round picks under Garrett look like:

Visitors:

  • 2018 - Connor Williams
  • 2017 - Chidobe Awuzie
  • 2015 - Randy Gregory
  • 2014 - Demarcus Lawrence
  • 2011 - Bruce Carter

Non-Visitors

  • 2016 - Jaylon Smith
  • 2013 - Gavin Escobar

*Note: The Cowboys did not have a second round pick in 2012.

Add in that they don't have to focus on bringing in visitors for a first round pick, and it seems likely that #58 will have been a visitor.

Edit: It looks like WizardHawk is correct that Connor Williams was not a top-30 visitor, but a Dallas Day participant. I do imagine they wouldn't waste a top-30 visit on someone they could bring in for Dallas Day, so that list is probably worth considering for anyone potentially in that range.

Definitely appears to be the case.

And if that's the case, here are the list of names that fit the criteria:

  • Deebo Samuel, WR
  • Jace Sternberger, TE
  • Dawson Knox, TE
  • Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, S
  • Johnathan Abram, S
  • Juan Thornhill, S
  • Taylor Rapp, S
  • Gerald Willis, DT
  • Jaylon Ferguson, DE
  • LJ Collier, DE (Dallas Day)
  • Damien Harris*, RB
  • Greg Little*, OT

*These are almost certainly "if they fall to round 3" targets.

Well, time to start a poll. Good work.

Gil Brandt came out with his top 150 today. I find it to be one of the more interesting rankings out there, because he's so well connected, and you always see some players that surprise you with how high or low they are. Kind of the best replacement for the old Rick Gosselin top 100.

See below for where players connected to the Cowboys rank. I put *** next to particularly surprising/interesting rankings:

Top 30 Visits

39 Johanathan Abram, S***
53 Juan Thornhill, S

81 Emanuel Hall, WR
110 Mecole Hardman, WR

88 Damien Harris, RB
131 Tony Pollard, RB

My favorite of the DL linked to Dallas. Would love it if they can snag him some how

#68 is so much higher than I’ve seen him ranked elsewhere. Reminds me a little of how Bennie Logan climbed very quickly in a few weeks before the draft, like people were finally starting to realize that an explosive DT just won’t sit on the board for very long.

I went Abram in the poll but would be ecstatic if we went interior DL instead i just dont  expect us to go there.   Frankly if there isn’t a safety available that is high on our board I would not be surprised if we trade the 58 pick.
