I made this mistake when I was a novice whiskey drinker. I liked the 12 so much I thought I'd treat myself to their 18 and I didn't like it as much. Older doesn't always mean better. Once you acquire the tongue, you can find notes you prefer in almost any whiskey. At this point, Mac12 tastes almost cinnamony and really full and sweet to me. It's crazy how good whiskey is if you just take your time to learn it. And you get effed up in the studies. Win/win. I drink Tully on the rocks in a pinch.
