Based on MLB's top prospects, Jackson Rutledge was best available (12th best on their list). Only quibble I would have was perhaps passing on the LHP out of Kentucky (who was 14th) since he was a lefty, but that kid has a not-so-pretty injury history. I LOL'ed at this comment from him: Quote Rutledge on meeting players at draft, including Randy Johnson: "The coolest one was Randy Johnson. I was just wearing his jersey a few days ago. So that’s cool to actually see him in real life, and he’s definitely bigger than me, so that’s new." I guess that's not a common occurrence for the kid.

That tends to happen when you trade a bunch of it away. Not to mention bomb on draft picks like Romero.
turtle28
Great job Rizzo! I will say that a lot of the Nats young top talent is in the big leagues like Soto and Robles for example. Soto is only 20 and Robles is only 22. Most team's players that age are still in the minors.

Slateman
Make or break homestand for the Nationals. Four against the D-backs, four against the Phillies, three against the Braves. They don't come out of this with at least a 7-4 record, they can't seriously compete for the postseaosn.

The drafting has been subpar the last couple of seasons, but as already mentioned by @lavar703 he has traded much of the talent for established players (specifically Eaton, Papelbon, Melancon, Fister, etc). Woz
While Fedde's going to be on the mound vs Greinke (so the odds were not in the Nats favor to begin with), I'm sorry about tonight, guys. I got tickets for my uncle and I to go the game.
