PFF Buyer Beware Projected 1st Rounders:

1) Rashan Gary

2) Daniel Jones

3) Josh Jacobs

They like Jacobs. But In the Mid-Late 2nd.

Jacobs is a three down back but he’s only slightly above average in every category. He does nothing great. He also has very below average speed.

Not surprised Gary tops this list, i don't know who can watch a Michigan game and think he looks better than Winovich on the field on a weekly basis, and I'm not super high on Winovich myself.

Curious as a top 20 hs player would you rather go to for example a college like bama and not be guaranteed pt, end up prolly being a rotational guy that might have to sit for a while or go to a less prestigious school like Purdue which is still d1 in a excellent conference but you’re guaranteed playing time?

After seeing the Big Ben extension, Wilson contract, and what Brady is going to get I think no matter how Carr plays this year if a QB is good value at any of our picks, Murray and Haskins are not good value at 4, this year or next we should take them.  Start developing his backup because if he does start to play well he will get $30-35 a year when it is time to extend him.  We need someone who can replace him and if he plays out of his mind and wants ridiculous money we can trade him for a ton and we should be fine.

If he plays like a franchise QB you should pay him like it, or suffer more losing seasons because you want to save money on the most important position in football.

PT or not, Bama churns pro ready players out annually.

As long as I was sure that I could get a good education in my field and had a good support staff (coaches, trainers, etc) at Purdue then that is what I would choose. Alabama is college football elite in everything but say if I was a freshman corner that had size and skill but Bama had 3 or 4 guys in front of me than I would bet on myself. That is just a basic answer though.

In real life so many factors would go into that decision.

That wasn't the question. He knows they got the 4 and 5 star guys. It's about whether its worth it to maybe a better chance to shine to be in that program.

Gary is rated higher off of potential, attributes and scheme versatility. Winovich is pretty much who he is gonna be at this point. He can get a bit better technique wise but he is about maxed in the other areas. Not to say that he won't be a good Pro for years because I can see that. Just Gary has the building blocks to be great. We just haven't seen it yet. How do you value that "chance" is the question?

They want to win a national championship, play on national television every week, and they get to practice against the best of the best every day for 3-4 years. Look at a guy like Quinnen, he went from back up rotational player to a top 5 pick in one year. I'm sure a lot of that has to do with the coaching/practice he got at Bama against the best of the best.

Yup. People always forget that the NFL draft is all about upside. A lot of the top pass rushers were just okay in college but had the traits to be great and became great once they received NFL coaching.

I understood the question. My answer was regardless of PT, all else being equal, I’d go with Bama because that would be the best shot at the league.
