This is why the SEC is the best. To be honest, that's why Alabama is the best, having won the National Title or lost to the team that won the National Title in each of those 10 years. If you take Auburn, LSU, and UGA and compare them with FSU, OSU, and Clemson x2, that more or less shows the average/mean dominance and doesn't take conference into consideration much at all over that time period, save for the fact that the PAC and Big XII are largely worse than everyone other conference's best team(s).
