So they did it for the juju?

I think they told Watson that he can only join them if he takes substances, yes.

Are we really supposed to believe that someone who is retired decided to take performance enhancing substances?

If the pats knew about it before like it is being reported, then it's obvious to me that he took them last postseason in an attempt to come back. He was injured last post season.

It was probably part of the reason he originally retired tbh

I actually kind of figured it was something like this. There are still a lot of medical uses for things that are banned for professional athletes.

Why not delay signing then?

For what reason?

to wait for the PEDs to clear his system so that he wouldn't test positive

Well it didn't matter to the pats, and he is a super religious guy, maybe he thought that would be deceitful?  I don't think he had a problem with taking the Testerone,

According to his twitter post, he was tested in March after he started treatment following his retirement announcement, and long before NE came calling.  That test was going to be positive no matter when he signed with the Pats if that's the case, if I've read his account correctly.

Darn, I was really looking forward to finally having a decent TE on the roster. Is LaCosse/Izzo really better options than Watson? They've caught like what 3 or 4 passes all season? TE's have been invisible so far. Urggg.

No

And we aren't going to believe anybody who says his doctors prescribed Bio Identical Testosterone Cypionate, because no legitimate MD would do that. You don't need a prescription for snake oil.
This really isn't a very good lie, but its believable enough to fool some fans who wish to be fooled

Watson took PED's to try and continue his career, we have no idea when he made that decision or what teams talked him or what promises were made
