Special Teams aren't important factors in games unless you have a bottom 5 unit or a top 5 unit. Change my mind.

 

Oh, and we definitely had a bottom 5 unit last year. Pretty soon there won't even be special teams methinks. High schools are getting rid of kickoffs in the next year or two. Ridiculous (although I coach HS football and our special teams are always ATROCIOUS and cost us so much field position, so maybe it's a good thing).

Kick off are understandable as they are ripe to cause brain injury. Put people in helmets, get a 20 yard run up and hit into someone. 

We are beginning to see more brain injury related stuff happen in rugby in New Zealand, but we have a ridiculously long season from late February till November. 

The risk of brain injury needs to be avoided as much as possible, especially where there is only a small yield of action, like a kick off, which is mostly a tackle in a pile somewhere between the 19-28 yard line.
