Part of the decision, at least, had to do with saving some cap room - due to his tenure, he was due $1.4M. Now, they are only on the books for a $100K dead money penalty. The only issue is that we're not a legit contender, so spending any $ on P is kinda silly. Then again, if he's willing to sign for the vet min, why not.
