Ivory Coast Black Rhinos Gameplan:

Offense
Primary Formation: 4 Wide "10" Personnel
- We're going to come out this week with our 4 wide personnel as the primary formation, looking at a little over half the time. Sherman will be in the backfield when we need to run the ball on short yardage.

Running Game Focus- Give the ball to Chubb. Watch Chubb run. Block for Chubb, and give Ekeler some carries as well. Both will run out of a spread. Sometimes we'll bring in Anthony Sherman to block. We're going to have our offensive line block players on defense, to open up holes for our backs to run through. We're going to avoid holding penalties.

Passing Game Focus- We're going to let it rip with Daniel Jones and see what he's capable of. We're spreading the field, and sending our receivers on all sorts of patterns to pray one gets open before our offensive line lets us down as has been referenced weekly. We'll use Chubb to block, but no one seems to bother factoring that in anyway.

X-Factor on Offense: Danny Dimes- We're going to be witnesses to Danny Dimes making his first BDL start and it'll be amazing, the best I tell you. I don't think it'll result in a W, but it'll be something to tell the grand-kids about. Or be the creepy old neighbor and tell the kids down the street in the case of @pheltzbahr.

Defense
Defensive Formation: 4-2-5 Defense
- Standard protocol, we prepare as a nickel defense, bring in another LB if needed for base 4-3, or switch out to dime package if they go out wider. Bobby Okereke comes in for the 4-3 with Carr going out, and in Dime White goes out with Eric Reid coming in to provide a 3 safety look.

Secondary Coverage: Zones- We're zoning all day long baby. Nothing to be beat over the top, we'll mix Cover 2, Cover 3, Cover 4, Cover 6, you name it, we'll probably use it. Not really looking to blitz much this game, so we'll have 7 in coverage all the time.

Defensive Box- Linebackers will play in zone, but focus on run as well. Defensive line, we have Khalil Mack and Myles Garrett on the edges doing what Khalil Mack and Myles Garrett normally do - be unappreciated as pass rushers. Interior DL will one gap for penetration.

X-Factor on Defense: Khalil Mack and Myles Garrett- Did you know we have Khalil Mack and Myles Garrett on the edges?

Anchorage Wolves

We have lost 5 straight and welcome the Ivory Coast Black Rhinos to Anchorage. They will either bring us a hobbled Matt Ryan or Danny Dimes to the Great Northwest. We will be ready for them.

Offensive Formations: (3 Wide 30%, 2TE 30%, 2RB 30%, 4 Wide 10%)

Our base offense this week will consist of three formations with even percentage of snaps at 30% each followed by the 4 wide at 10%.  In our three wide we will have Sammy Watkins as the Z and Preston Williams as the X on the outside with Tyler Boyd in the slot. Dawson Knox is our TE and he is backed up by Noah Fant. When we run our two tight end sets Noah Fant will be the TE2. Our 2back sets will include Alec Ingold as the FB. In our 4 wide Zach Pascal comes in as the other slot receiver. In two wide formations Boyd will play the X and Watkins the Z as the outside receivers.

Offensive Plan of Attack:

We want to run a balanced attack and force IC to bring in their third LBer 60% of our offensive snaps as we believe we have a clear advantage there. They may decide to leave a nickel or a third safety in against our 2 back and 2 TE sets and that is fine with us as well as we will have an added advantage with our run game. We want to run a 60/40 split again of pass and run if they are going to bring in that third LBer. If they are going to play a nickel corner or third safety against our 2RB and 2 TE sets we will look at a 50/50 split. We will be looking at a 50/40/10 percentage usage with Ingram, Pollard, and Lewis at RB.

Last week IC two gapped with their Defensive Tackles. If they decide to do this they are misusing their DT’s especially Ogunjobi. I just watched Garrett Bradbury have a great game against Da’Ron Payne on Thursday night and he gets the start at C. We will run zone and with our oline movement the DT’s will be forced to clog two run gaps while the holes are moving down the line. It will be a difficult assignment for their defensive tackles and allow our RB’s to pick and choose the holes in the interior. If we determine early on their DT’s are two gapping the A and B gaps that allows us to make presnap adjustments with our blocking assignments based on where the ends Mack and Garrett are lining up. This the end/tackle matchup of the year in my opinion with Mack and Garrett against Armstead and Collins. Based on where the ends are positioning themselves we can either block down on their ends into the C gap, sealing the edge for outside runs, or if the ends are playing wide gap we can ride them out and gash their C gaps, as their DT’s will be two gapping and we can ride our play side G to the second level and seal off the LBers. If they are one gapping early on we will introduce some man power run plays to take advantage of a hat on a hat. If they run the Third LBer against our 2RB and 2TE sets we will attack his gap assignment often taking advantage of this mismatch. We will have the advantage in our 2TE sets of utilizing our TE’s to double with our tackles on the ends, and peel off to the second level. In our 2RB we will have a FB lead blocker to get to the second level. In the three wide we will be able to spread out the defense and create wider holes for us to gash the defense, especially if they are depending on the DT’s to two gap.

We will once again run combo routes against their zone and man coverages looking for the weak spots at various levels of their coverage for Cousins to pick on. We are very happy with Cousins play as of late and believe we can count on him to make the proper reads and use his arm to make some plays for us. We get to utilize the speed of Sammy Watkins this week and will use him to stretch the field. In our 3wide Boyd’s savvy route running will benefit us inside, and Preston Williams size and jump ball ability will provide us with a possession target to attack this defense. They will be without Adoree Jackson who is their number two corner. We will look to stretch the seams with our TE and get our backs out into the flat. Against our two tight and 2 RB if they bring in that third LBer we will target his area often against zone in the pass game. If he has man coverage we will look to take advantage of that matchup also. We will utilize the screen game if they are becoming blitz heavy. In our 4 wide Zach Pascal mans the other slot position and we will combo with the receiver to his outside to create multi level threats as we will do the same with Boyd and his outside receiver.

We will utilize motions with our TE or Z Receiver to determine coverages. In our 3 wide and 4 wide Cousins will line up in shotgun. In the 2 TE and 2 RB sets Cousins will line up under center. We will either motion our TE side receiver in and out in three wide sets showing variance with this to determine coverage or motion the TE out like a 4 wide. If we see its zone look we will run some play action out of our shotgun formations to freeze the LBers in zone to hit slants and early crossers right behind them, as well as hold the safeties for our seam attacks. If we see its man we identify key matchups presnap, and follow progressions. In two TE and 2RB sets we will motion the Z receiver which will be Sammy Watkins in these formations to determine coverages.

Defensive Formations:

Our Base D will be a nickel this week against any 3 wide sets and a 4-3 under against any 2 wide and less sets. Uchenna Nwosu will be our SLB in 4-3 sets. Chauncey Gardner-Johnson had a great game last week in his first start at Nickel for the Saints. He gets the start at Nickel for Anchorage this week. Vernon Hargreaves will come in against four wide sets as the dime and Joe Schobert will come out. Against an empty set Sean-Murphy Bunting comes into the game replacing Landon Collins, and plays up over the fifth receiving option. In Nickel and Dime sets Landon Collins plays up in the box.

Defensive Plan of Attack:

Just like last week we face either an Injured Vet at QB or a Rookie, but we will prepare for both the same way. We will once again mix up our coverages to attempt to create confusion, while also always playing press to disguise all coverages the same. We will stick to our bread and butter this week again and our coverages will be between Man/Single High (20%), Cover 2 (30%), and Cover 3 (40%). Landon Collins or Ronnie Harrison will peel out to their Cover 2 assignment if we are playing the coverage against the three wide or four wide sets. When we run man against their three wide Corners have the receivers they are lined up across from, Chidobe and Breeland outside, CGJ the slot, and  Budda Baker is single high cheating toward Breeland’s side. Against the Three Wide 2RB, Schobert has the FB or Second RB, Landon Collins has the RB, and Jamie Collins has QB Spy/Middle zone, or Blitz. Against the four wide, Hargreaves has the second slot in man, Landon has the RB, and Jamie has the same ability to QB Spy in that Middle Zone or Blitz. We will also introduce some zone blitz where we bring Jamie Collins or Nwosu (against two wide sets).

Once again this week we face a very good running game. We will have Vita Vea two gap both A gaps. Javon Hargrave will have B gap to TE side. MLB will opposite B gap. Sam Hubbard will have right side C gap, and SS will have outside contain or D gap to the TE/Strong Side. Trey Flowers will have Left Side C gap, Nickel CB will have Outside Contain or D gap on that side. WLB will have spill inside to outside chase. So he will fill any holes from inside out that aren’t getting clogged if my dline is getting beat. If we are in the 4-3 Vea has two gap both A gaps, Hargrave has strong side B gap, MLB has opposite B gap, Both ends have C gaps, Nwosu and J. Collins have outside contain or D gaps and L. Collins has free range to chase the ball carrier.

When we blitz against the 3 or 4 wide we will be bringing Jamie Collins. We will look to attack the left side of the IC oline with our blitzes to get added pressure to a left tackle and left guard that shouldn’t be starting in BDL. If we blitz against a two wide set we will bring Nwosu as we like Collins more in coverage and if we are going to sacrifice a LBer in coverage to blitz we would rather keep the better player in Coverage especially because we believe Nwosu can beat the average talent on the left side of the IC oline. We will introduce some stunts as well to take advantage of any attempted help they plan to bring to that side. We will rotate Ed Oliver in at UT, either with Vea or Hargrave (Hargrave will move to NT when Oliver is in with him). Rasheem Green will back up our ends, and Derek Wolfe will provide us flexibility at DT or LE.

Go Wolves!

Because everyone totally expected him to go 28 of 41 for 322 yards, 4 TDs and no interceptions.

But hey, let's not factor in game performance at all. You do you boo.

I actually would have given you the win but you wanna put, hey we're gonna lose but it'll be fun then you lose my vote.  Team will quit on any coach who throws that out there.  Without that part you take this one pretty easily

I said I didn't think it would result in a win, not that we are going to lose. Regardless, the team wouldn't hear that part in the locker room, but sure, we can pretend that this portion is what swung your vote decision.

It would've been great if you tried in this matchup, though. I don't care about that one part of it, but it's clear you're bitter and didn't care much in this one. More talented roster, but Counselor ran circles around you in the game plan.
