I think one of the first things Vrabel said when he was hired was "front multiplicity" so I wouldn't expect that to ever change.

We get to that DL of Landry/Simmons/Casey/X a lot anyway, the ED are just standing up which helps disguise things.

I'm not convinced Landry is as good as advertised just yet. I wonder where he ranks with pressure rate? I wouldn't be surprised if his pressures indicate a drop in sacks in the future.

Our pass rush was pretty bad, even when we had a healthy secondary and Wake. I don't think one ED makes the difference in the result we need to see on the field for us to just be one pass rusher away. I think there's a good chance a lot of our guys aren't as good as we think at getting after the QB.

Casey was definitely not what he used to be and offered very little pass rush the majority of the season. Simmons showed flashes, but was really a major contributor as a run defender. Jones is a NT, not a pass rusher. Landry had decent sack totals, but was often completely invisible for long stretches and didn't seem to affect the QB as often as his sack totals suggest. Wake was decent in his limited role at getting pressure, but was hardly on the field and can't be counted on.

I think there's a good chance we need more help up front than has been suggested. Maybe getting a healthy secondary will help, but I think Ryan ended up being a liability in coverage down the stretch. Gave up like 84 catches this season or something crazy high.

When I say edge rusher away I’m talking elite edge rusher, & a situational pass rusher. I’m no sold on Harold either I’m on record of saying he’s Derrick Morgan 2.0 only he’s more fluid & can cover. Nevertheless I agree with everything you said my guy & I too not sold on Ryan, he’s a good slot corner but till this year his #s wasn’t nothing that screamed 10-12 mill a yr.

Vic Beasley is a FA. Wouldn’t mind taking flyer on him. Isn’t the biggest guy but is a decent pass-rusher. Still wouldn’t fix the position but can certainly be a specialist.

Rather keep wake as a situational rusher if he takes a pay cut. Give me Donta Fowler I really want Clowney but I’m scared to death of dudes injury history

Once again, Beasley wouldn’t be coming in to start. Fowler and Clowney are not happening especially if we’re trying to retain Henry, Tannehill, and Conklin. Wake is done

We have over 60 mill in cap space & possibly 80 after releases & restructures. I bet you we go after a Big time edge Rusher come FA, & wake said he’s not retiring to me as a situational rusher I rather have wake than Beasley at a cheaper option, wake was playing very good till he got hurt

If I am the Titans, Clowney has to be on the top of their free agent list of external players as to me he fits the biggest need for this team outside of QB and RB (I am assuming however we bring back both Tannehill and Henry). I think we could re- sign Tannehill, and Henry and then go and sign Clowney. Would not have too much cap left after that without cutting some vets but Walker and Lewis to me are goners and we won't bring back Ryan and Conklin in this scenario. I would rather have an elite EDGE player like Clowney than another corner or OT anyways.

I know this board we don't always agree but one thing I think we can all agree on in the pass rush was not good enough without sending extra players all the time. If we want to have a chance in hell to beat a team like KC, we need to be able to create a pass rush with 4 or 5 guys max. There is a reason why pass rushers get paid and Clowney is a chance to finally have an elite one plus he has ties to Vrabel. Getting a pass rush with less people rushing makes the entire defense so much better. I know Clowney may not have the sack numbers, but just ask Houston how important he was to that defense.

A front seven of Casey, Jones, Simmons, Clowney, Brown/Long, Evans and Landry would be top five in the NFL imo.

However, though I rate Clowney personally the highest of all the free agents, this is a really strong group of edge players and ends many of which would help to fix this issue for the Titans. There is no excuse for the Titans not to address this spot with at least one quality free agent as there are several to choose from.

If the Titans really thought Conklin was a necessity, you'd think they'd have triggered his option last offseason. He'd be under contract this coming year for about 12M.

Remember the option is guaranteed for injury only.

Just something to think about as FA rolls around...

He was also coming off of a year where he was clearly a shell of himself after the ACL and rebounded with the best year of his career.
