Warmack Promoted to Starting Left Guard... aaand It's Gone!

Kelce has regressed. I remember us discussing Kelce maybe a year or two ago.

I think someone mentioned that Kelce always looked like a good starter with 2 good guards around him. At least 2 competent guards.

I think any center would look at least a little worse with having an incompetent player next to them. However, I don’t think Kelce is the type of center that can help mask the deficiencies that we saw from Seumalo against the Chiefs.

For us right now, it’s a matter of a weak link on the OL being our LG and not having a center capable of masking the deficiencies to that side of the OL.

Frankly, when we’ve seen Kelce at his best, it’s with him in space. Some of our most memorable plays with him have been Kelce pulling and getting down the field on a toss or counter or trap. I think having an incredibly ineffective player on the interior offensive line might be limiting our ability to use him that way.

Kelce, as far as I can remember, has never been a mauler. He’s not a particularly big center and he’s not really known as a mover from the center position.

Good thing is Kelce won't have a 0 tech NT right over him, so he should be fine. Maybe another reason Warmack was put in because he is known to be a guy who can maul.

Run plays I'm going over 10...I think running at those pass rushers is the way to go...outside zone, little off tackle. Some wham, maybe a C trap or 3. And some zone read to keep those DEs on their toes. If DougieP drops back 50x with a close game we'll lose this one too.

Makes me wonder is Seumalo actually won this job in camp or he's just who they WANTED to win it. Because it seemed like from day 1 he was the starter there.

Yeah I dunno. Eagles are tight lipped. Seems odd to bench a guy who won the job legitimately in camp after two games. But those were two awful games.

maybe Stout can work his magic here

Look Sue had to be benched. Whether it was Warmack or Wiz. My worry is why Warmack Against one of the better Pass Rush DL in the League? Something Chance has struggled with his whole career, (pass protection)? Seems like a odd choice unless Pederson plans on Shocking the World and actually de idea to Run the ball this week?

Doubful, but possible.

Both of NYG's starting DT's are run stopping specialists, power players. Warmack is a power player. So unless it's on stunts or odd fronts he shouldn't be seeing much of Vernon or JPP 1 on 1.

Stop calling him Sue lol.

And, no he didn't have to be benched. I understand why they would do it, but it didn't have to be done. It is still is only 2 weeks into the season after a promising rookie year.

More pointedly, it’s ridiculous to make an honest evaluation on a second-year player after just two starts. The Eagles may have hoped Seumalo would transition smoothly into the starting role when they promoted him at the start of training camp and dealt away incumbent Allen Barbre, but surely they envisioned growing pains.

Seumalo needs an opportunity to correct mistakes the way last year’s rookie offensive lineman, tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai, overcame an abysmal start as he replaced Lane Johnson for most of Johnson’s 10-game suspension.

It’s also important to remember that the Eagles’ offensive line played just a few series together this preseason. Line play is about continuity and Seumalo is still finding his comfort between left tackle Jason Peters and center Jason Kelce.

As the youngest and most inexperienced lineman, Seumalo is naturally drawing the red circle for opposing coaches. The Chiefs devised some blitz schemes designed to get Seumalo isolated in pass protection and capitalized on the former Oregon State lineman’s grabby hands and spotty footwork, which is common among rookies or first-time starters.

The future could determine that Seumalo isn’t the right fit at left guard. Most NFL personnel folks believed he projected better at center, and it’s reasonable to assume Seumalo will eventually replace Kelce, perhaps even by the start of next season.

But giving up on him after two weeks would be the ultimate example of pushing the panic button. The Eagles must be patient with their approach, not panicked.

When he stops wearing a skirt on the Football field I'll stop using that nickname. For now, it applies.

I also don't care if it's been two weeks or two years. He "right now" is going to get Wentz killed or injured playing like the Revolving Door he's been thus far!

Wentz's Health far outweighs any growing pains or god forbid confidence lost from a fragile mind if that's the case? Sit, get pi$$ed it happened,  use it as motivation and fix the  issues that got you benched in the first place so that you force your way back into starting lineup. Plain and simple. Or become a backup.

Balls in his court.

You seem to be the one wearing the skirt with how pissy you sound.

I guess you would want Sidney Jones benched for Patrick Robinson after week 2 if he went up against a really good receiver and got beat.

You're assuming Isaac is going to keep being as bad as he was last week.

He is usually pretty solid in pass protection. Not sure if you realize, but he went up against Chris Jones who should be a household name soon. Dude is a beast.
