1.26 - Jordan Love [QB; Utah State] - QB1

I've been bewildered by many past 1st rnd picks of the Packers, but this one surpasses them all. Heck, I was bracing for something less expected like a CB or even a RB, but trading up to pick what many had as the #4-5 QB in this draft, with Rodgers still on board through 2023, coming off a 13-3 season??? I am starting to wonder if Gute thinks he is way smarter than everyone else and just wants to show it. Love certainly could develop into a good QB if he fixes the decision making/accuracy issues. That will take two seasons minimum. But even so, unless Rodgers goes down with injury, or he retires early, Love won't see the field for 3 years. I thought our contention arrow was headed upward. This pick does not help that case. It just makes no sense, unless they think this upcoming season is a wash.

This is clearly the same time line as brett. They are expecting to have Rodgers ply out his contract... and love gets 3/4 years with LaFleur and Hackett.

Also other thought... no rookie this year will get rookie it’s or mini camps or maybe even training camp. Going all in this year might be tough. They might of saw an opportunity to draft a guy that they can develop.

You know what ? I'd be fine with that. I don't agree but can live with it. Then don't re-sign him or bring in FA's and fake it.

I mean, isn't that kinda what we did?

Neither Wagner nor Kirksey have a contract that will last to Love's first year starting.

if that's the case, we have a helluva GM at selecting a coach who can lead a team of bad quality players to a 13-3 season!

Okay I'll play along. Say we stuck to the status quo of zero FA activity and kept drafting and developing. Would we have been 13-3? With Rashaan Gary and Kyler Fackrell as our two rushers? With Lane Taylor as a starter? Hell no we wouldn't have. Free agency is why we improved so much last year (and likely because we kicked McCarthy). Not because we have elite talent evaluators for a draft.

Also, I do like MLF as a coach.

Funchess was also signed for vet minimum. A guy "starting his entire NFL career" doesn't mean a damn thing.  We got him for the cheapest possible deal on a single year deal 2 weeks into UFA.  I'm a Michigan fan who likes Funchess but he's closer to not making the roster than he is being a high end starter next year.  Right now though, he's going to hav e to be a high end #2.

QBs make a lot of money.  Should very single one of them that signs a second deal have to operate an elite offense with 1 good WR?  Our group of pass catchers is pretty easily the worst in the NFL.

What the **** are you talking about? Our group of pass catchers is around league average?

Nah, I'm good. I like not over-reacting and rage quitting because we didn't take the 8th OT on the board or a ****ty IDL.

Who rage quit? Because people don't like the draft pick? They don't like the pick and are complaining about it. Kinda a lot like how some people in here complain about Rodgers for not chewing the correct flavor gum.

Also, I don't use Twitter 😎
