He had a HOF career but imagine how much better he would have been without the injury. Back then players did not recover 100% after torn knee ligaments.

Yeah I’m with you 1000% no way we put Ruggs at KR.... we don’t need a Tim Brown 2.0 injury. It’s so amazing to think what Brown did after that injury given back then it was a career killer or at best same the player lost all athleticism. People often forget that injury cost him his 23, 24, 25 year old seasons... yeah he played at 24/25 but was still not back to what he was and thus couldn’t even start...often the peak years for WRs.... yet he was still able to have such a long career.

Bowden was 6th in the country in kick return yards in 2017 and had 71 kick off returns for 869 yards during his three seasons at Kentucky. I'd expect him to be the leading candidate to be our kick off return specialist.

Boys got silky smooth moves and patience.

Ideally Lynn Bowden will be able to be our primary kick and punt returner, imo.

I think with agolor, Zay and Bowden taking receiving snaps, the injury risk is not as great considering Renfrow will probably be a fourth passing option barring injury. Tashan Reed wrote an article for the Athletic today and one of his key points from camp was how good Renfrow has looked. We've seen in the past that Carr favors guys that he has chemistry with and Renfrow came on extremely strong at the end of last season. With Williams injury I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up leading our WR's in targets this season. He's the only healthy WR on the team that had more than 600 receiving yards last season. It wouldnt surprise me one bit if he led the receivers in targets and receptions and is our primary 'move the chains' receiver. He's got some decent YAC ability too which can get easily overlooked. Ruggs and Edwards probably won't be running full route trees so Renfrow, Waller and maybe even Witten will be crucial to keep us moving. Over the last 7 games of the season he had 35 receptions for 490 yards and 4 TD. (Avg, 5 receptions, 70 yards, 0.57 TD per game) If he produced on a similar level over the course of a 16 game season that'd be 80 receptions for 1,120 yards, and 9 TD. oakdb36
Moving on with the youth. Probably means Nixon made the 53. Edited August 31, 2020 by oakdb36

I'm assuming that last CB spot will come down to Nixon/Lawson, with Nixon having the edge based on reports from camp. But damn our CB room is going to be really young. Trayvon Mullen - 10 starts/675 NFL snaps played Damon Arnette - 0 starts/0 NFL snaps played Isaiah Johnson - 0 starts/14 NFL snaps played Amik Robertson - 0 starts/0 NFL snaps played Keisean Nixon - 0 starts/38 NFL snaps played

You'd think they'd still want to keep him on the roster as an insurance policy though. He's not spectacular by any means but he graded out as PFF's 5th best CB in man coverage last season and has started like 100 games in his career. I think this is a testament to the staff seeing something in Nixon and Johnson and not wanting to have to let either one go.

I like the young guys but would keep Lawson around if possible with the numbers game.
