I know Deshaun wanted to wait 3 years but if Mahomes got his contract tied to the salary cap and Deshaun can see thats an option... well. Yeah so that's not guaranteed at all. It's a still a series of 1 year club options, the Chiefs can't just wait until the last second to trigger them.
