good thing that pekka rinne can get over another huge failure on the road with *checks schedule* another game on the road!

Prior to the 3rd period, I wasn't really worried about Rinne. But after that 3rd period, it's clear that Winnipeg is in his head. Will be curious to see how long Rinne's leash is in game 4 and if game 4 is bad, wonder if Lavi would turn to Saros in game 5 to try and get a spark.

Caps win late off an Ovechkin goal with 1:07 left in the game.  Washington with a strong 3rd period to come back from one down.  2 points for OV and 3 assists for Nicklas Backstrom.

If Washington loses this series, here is no way you can put any of it on Ovi this year (at least to this point). He has shown up big time all playoffs long so far.

It'll be because the Pens whined to the NHL officials and got them to change the nature of the playoffs to comply with their inability to play physical hockey.

Look, I won't come out and say that Wilson's hit wasn't on the dirty side. He's developed the ability to make dirtyish hits that look cleaner to the refs because he's able to hit a shoulder first. That being said, the refs talked about this amongst themselves during the game AND called in for a replay review, and didn't call a penalty. How is it a penalty 24 hours later? Let alone three games? That's ridiculous. If you're going to go back and review that and issue a suspension, you have to do it for the whole game and everything included. Crosby was spitting at people and nothing was done about it.

Then, immediately after the game, their coaching staff comes out and says that Aston-Reese has a broken jaw and a concussion. Not the usual "upper body injury" cryptic nonsense that everyone else does. In the presser, the coach said the exact injury and then started saying that the NHL needs to look at it. Then you have players leaking to the press that Wilson was "laughing" at Aston-Reese being hurt.

It's obvious that the Penguins have no answer for physical play and that Tom Wilson in particular is living rent-free in their heads. For the first time ever, the Pens aren't getting hooked by the refs on the ice, so they started their own little campaign to get hooked by the NHL front office. Starting with confirming that injury, they made a dedicated campaign to change the nature of this series because they knew they were screwed if it continued the way it was going. The refs won't (can't) swallow their whistles anymore. The Penguins have fundamentally altered the nature of this series.

As much as Pittsburgh fans want to call the Patriots the golden child of the NFL, the Penguins are the equivalent in the NHL. Maybe even more so, as the NFL has actually investigated and come down on the Pats before, but the NHL continues to do whatever the Pens ask them.

The NHL never has reviewed penalties during a game so the refs didn't "call in for a replay review". No idea where you got that from. Marchand got a five game suspension for elbowing earlier in the year yet didn't get a penalty on the play. You're acting like this only happened to the Penguins. It doesn't.

So you're blaming Sullivan for telling the truth about ZAR? The audacity of him! He confirmed the injury? Diabolical!  You literally write he didn't say the usual "cryptic nonsense that everyone else does" yet criticize him for giving out the information of his injury. That makes a ton of sense. I'm sure the NHL wouldn't have investigated if he didn't say about his injury right? You act like there is some unwritten rule that was violated. The league's video went through why there was a suspension. Congrats to Wilson for getting his third suspension in a season. First time that has happened since the DoPS started. Also you should really be embarrassed two days later thinking that Crosby spit on that video. Ovie grabbed the back of his collar which led to his head moving forward and back. The Caps player didn't do anything and he would have if he was actually spit on. The ref was right there too. You honestly believe if that did happen that it wouldn't be what everyone is talking about? Here's the little video of the "spit", er, non spit.

If you can see the spit then you probably send this video straight to Bettman! But since he loves the Penguins he won't do anything about it. Speaking of whistles the Caps and Pens went into the game tonight with the exact same amount of power play opportunities during the postseason. So do refs favor the Caps the same way then?

If the Pens did everything the league asked them to then Wilson would have gotten suspended for the hit against Dumolin. Niskanen would have gotten suspended for the cross check to Crosby last year and the Game 3 goal would have counted while Wilson would have gotten penalty on the GW goal.  The narrative is always the same and it won't change no matter how many examples I can give.

I'm blaming the Pens for playing games in the media and trying to put pressure on the NHL to "do something" after they looked at the play four times and determined it was fine.

And it worked. Caps showed very little physicality on the forecheck tonight. Pens were able to minimize the turnovers n their own zone that plagued them in the first game. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the NHL gifting them Wilson's three game suspension.

Lol @  trying to pretend like the League doesn't protect the Pens. Quit being a homer.
