Taking the MVP trophy away from Mahomes and giving it to Rodgers over something like 1 or 2 INT would be incredibly petty. The Chiefs earned two more wins and a bye. Not Mahomes alone. Didn't they take a 30-10 lead on a solid Dolphins team when Mahomes had 3 picks in the half? Perhaps the Tampa game was an MVP performance for Rodgers? The pair of failed 4th downs in a 22 offensive points loss at home to the Vikings? Leading his team to a whole 24 vs Jacksonville in Lambeau in a 4 point win? Props for a late GWD in a battle vs Jake Luton? Either look at all 16 games for both guys or leave it alone. Maybe it was for Jones? We were up 21-3 at half with both guys having great first halves. Then the offense proceeded to completely collapse in the second half and almost blew that lead. This is what it means by Most Valuable Player. It's the effect you have on your team as it contributes to winning football games. It was a close ish race but Mahomes won it with the better record. Incredible season getting us 15 wins with this offensive line and one of the toughest schedules in the league. Rodgers did well not throwing many picks but that's Mahomes award. So Mahomes deserves MVP because when he sucks, his team plays better because they think he is good. Not because they are a talented team or anything. So that punt return td against the Dolphins was because Mahomes and his 3 picks were just so inspiring? You've created a scenario where no matter how poorly Mahomes plays, any good thing the Chiefs do is because of the value of Mahomes. It's like you think this is just the Mahomes award and everyone has to earn it FROM HIM, and not on their own accord. Very interesting take. Mahomes, i read, can't confirm leads the league with 16 dropped ints. Rodgers has more tds, less ints, less turnovers, higher passer rating, higher qbr, higher dvoa, higher comp%, higher ay/a, same ypa. It's close, but not as close as some people are pretending. Mahomes has to initiate every play in his backpedal because his offensive line is so bad. Then he's has to immediately juke to the left or right just to be able to see if anyone is even open downfield. Then he's getting hit every other time he throws the ball. This is literally every single snap for him. I watched the Packers vs Titans game last night and Rodgers pocket was so clean the entire game he could've gotten some other things done as well like sort out and pay his bills, fold some laundry, etc. And yet overall he's got 2 less wins than Mahomes who has faced tougher teams all season. People wanting to give the trophy to Aaron Rodgers are simply looking to do preemptive damage control on Mahomes legacy. Thats all this is. You're staring down a pile of accomplishments that will far surpass anything your favorite teams all-time best player has even dreamed of doing and you know it so you just want to pretend it's about 1 or 2 interceptions and give Aaron Rodgers the trophy instead.
