What movie are you watching?

Its so over the top, but I love it.     Jamie Foxx turned in an amazing performance as Beaman.     Pacino was....Pacino.     James Woods and John C McGinley were both hilarious in their somewhat limited roles.    Cameron Diaz was pretty good.   Jim Brown was hilarious as the defensive coordinator.   Thought all the actors who played football players (several of which WERE football players} did a great job.

I love how this league existed as a competitor to the NFL, given that it could never really happen.

Overall, I love this movie.   Always have.  Try to rewatch it at least once a year.

I just watched Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan last night. Now I know why it's lauded as the best Star Trek film. Khan is, simply put, an amazing villain with a ham performance. His story as it pertains to his conflict with Kirk, who's already in the midst of a midlife crisis-which makes the whole film gel-is even better with plenty of solid performances and action to go around.

It gets bonus points for James Horner's amazing score, which I and many other feels is sadly overlooked.

Oh and:

Spock's death was powerful (read: sad) stuff.

And I’m serious, too.  I thought this was a drama with music in it, not a musical. I hate musicals. They’re dumb and stupid and I hate them.

I turned it off after about 20 minutes. Terrible movie!

If you like ridiculously over the top blood and guts action/comedy, I can't recommend Guns Akimbo more highly.  It has it's parts where it doesn't work as well, but for the most part it knows exactly what it is and embraces it and just goes full throttle. Radcliffe and Weaving pull it off.

It's on Amazon Prime now

I don’t trust Guns Akimbo.  Any movie with that kind of premise and over the top violence having anything under a 7.0 rating on IMDB means it’s a convoluted mess that relies entirely on its absurd premise.

I would also guess they try going heavy on one-liners that fall short, production quality suffers, and I bet it hits a serious dry spell and/or runs out of gas.

If I had to guess, it will be a lot closer to Mayhem than Ready Or Not.

Ready Or Not was perfect because it:

1. Built up to the absurdity.

2. Absurdity hit.

3. Absurdity never quit.

4. The payoff at the end was excellent.

I’m almost certain Guns Akimbo will drag hit its height at the midpoint and then trail off as the gun hands gag tires and gets stale only for a slow, drawn out climax where you don’t even really care anymore.

Or that the director did something stupid on Twitter (which I didn't even know about until I read up about it after)
