I understand that - however, the issue this scenario would create is not going to work out in the locker room.

Why? You think a 2nd round QB who was subpar in four career games is going to feel entitled to start? This isn't Wentz anymore, QBs shouldn't have to be coddled. Teams shouldn't have to think about everything they say to protect one guys ego. Hurts is a big boy and a good teammate. He can handle being a backup.

QBs are the most coddled/entitled players in all of sports. If a QB wants something, guess what - they get it. It doesn't matter how tough or hardass you want them to be, at the end of the day if they want out they're going to be out.

So let's recap:

The Eagles trade #8 overall, #77 overall (3rd), #100 overall (4th), a 2017 First and 2018 Second to select Carson Wentz.

He then plays at a near MVP level, gets them to the playoffs, ultimately gets hurt but his team wins a Super Bowl.

He gets hurt in 2017 but in 2018 throws for over 4,000 yards and has 27 TDs to only 7 INTs.

He then has 1 bad season, in a year with no preseason games and the lingering pandemic making the whole word weird and he gets run out of town and dumped for a 3rd and the possibility of a future first.

On top of this Philly spends a 2nd round pick on a QB who lost his starting job in college.

Now you're talking about spending yet another high pick on a QB.

Seriously how stupid is this organization?

They did a bunch of trades and swaps after that first Wentz trade that lessened the actual load that we spent. So in the end it didn't look like we gave up a bunch.

In our defense he's had more than one bad season. His record against +500 teams is BRUTAL. He's really good at beating bad teams

Why? By all accounts Hurts is mentally tough as they come. He's not Carson Wentz. He'd support whoever the starting QB is.

He also left to go play somewhere else after losing his job. Yes as a grad transfer but still he did it showcase his ability to play QB.

Now that he's in position to be a starter again, why would he want to be on a roster where its happening again?

Lol maybe Brady, Rodgers, Wilson, etc. Not backups or 2nd round rookies....

I want us to trade up for Zach Wilson.

#6, our 2nd, Fletcher Cox, Derek Barnett, Ertz. We get a bunch of cap relief and a QB prospect being compared to Aaron Rodgers (even though I think he's more of a Tennessee Tannehill)

Any way we can keep that 2nd so we can draft a WR? Add a 3rd this year and next?

There is no team that is going to guarantee Hurts a starting job going into next season.

you really want Howie taking a WR in round 2? If you don't make it simple for Howie, like Ja'Marr Chase or Smith, he will get it wrong.

So most of us want a WR so that means that's not gonna happen. Basically it's OL or DL.

Most likely outcome %s

QB - 35%

WR - 10%

OL/DL - 50%

Other - 5%

Thing is we do have a ton of skill and depth at the lines. They were just hurt. I was also reading an article on how much cap we can potentially free up if we cut members from the Jazz Hand All-stars (WR core). I'm guessing we might be looking at WR a bit more than 10%.
