Possible trades before deadline

This franchise needs to stop with the “there’s next year.” No there’s not. You have absolutely zero clue what can and will happen a year from now. We’re not the Steelers or the Ravens who have a history of bouncing back if things go wrong one year. You’re trying to get to the playoffs for the first time in almost 2 decades. You need to win as many games as possible every year unless you’re rebuilding. Everything can collapse very quickly in the nfl. Here’s a fun thought for people that just want to keep building for the future.

What if OBJ demands a trade in the offseason? Whelp there goes your #1 WR.

What if Chubb holds out? Whelp, there goes a major contributor to your offense.

What if Myles Garrett gets injured in the offseason? Whelp there goes your pass rush.

What if Baker turns into a turnover machine in 2021? Whelp you’re screwed.

Every single one of these things could happen. Stop playing for “next year.” Play for right now. We kill Dolan for not trying to win with the Indians and praise the Browns for adding assets.

But you also can't mortgage the future for a temporary high.

What future?

What future are you predicting? Nobody knows.

That’s why you need guarantees in this sport.

What are you proposing, exactly? Nothing is guaranteed in any sport, or life for that matter. Odell Beckham Jr. is a prime example of that.

Honestly, are we a player or two away?

Is one dude gonna put us on par with Baltimore, Pittsburgh or KC?

Okay let’s flip it.

If we miss the playoffs next year, what do you think happens?

Year 3 becomes you win NOW or everybody is gone.

Stop saying no to trades and signings that add more wins.

What are we trading away though? I'm not saying don't trade, just if you do, make SMART trades. No trade you make this year will take us from where we are to a Super Bowl contender, so there's no reason to overpay and sell the farm.

Well Baltimore is now greatly hurting. Stanley is out for the season. So another legit DE would greatly help us vs them.

So next year is the win now year, but we should make win now moves now?

I’m all for making a good deal, but I’m not pushing chips in with a defense that’s starting this rag tag group of arseholes.

One dude doesn’t fix this defense.  Not even one dude who’s not actually available via trade, let alone the ones who are.

Who are these great DE’s on the market?

At best you get a has been with a bloated salary, otherwise it’s a young player who at most has been hit or miss and their team doesn’t think they’re worth resigning.

Again, is a has been or 50/50 gamble closing the gap between us and the top shelf teams?

Next year becomes a win now if we don’t win this year, yes.

Also, I’m going to let out a spoiler for you guys: Whoever we draft, probably won’t contribute immediately or be a bust. The learning curve is tremendous for a rookie.

You’re entire argument revolves around protecting draft picks. Draft picks are just potential. Potential, that most likely won’t work out.

This forum is obsessed with potential and hope because that’s all they have.

If a coach is getting 2 years to make us elite then we might as well just stop wasting our time now, because Haslam is delusional.

Could it happen then? Sure.  But the idea it’s Super Bowl or bust year 2 is absurd.
