Statistical and situational proof that Lynn needs to be fired

Another disgusting, disgusting day. For different reasons this time.

He didn't really have a chance to blow a close lead, but he did have ample chances to take Justin Herbert out of the firing line. Why did he leave him in?!

Also, wrong number of players on multiple punts is ridiculous.

Then in the presser he said Herbert asked to stay in... then right after Herbert said he didn't recall being asked if he wanted to stay in or not.

Lynn has been over his head the entire time he's been here. He's got this run first mentality no matter who's on the field. Chargers haven't been a run first team in 15 years... its not how the team is built. We don't have the road grader Oline or RBs needed for that style yet he still wants to do it.

Also how does the guy go into the season thinking Tyrod Taylor is better for the team than Herbert and that Herbert wasn't ready?! I get that there wasn't as much practice time this year but its pretty obvious that Herbert is on a whole different level.

At this point I'd assume he coaches out the year. Not sure there is a better option to take over in the short term besides maybe Pep.

Even when they win....Lynn adds to the resumé of why he just can't be a NFL HC.

No TO's left....they call a run, and don't convert, so they can't down the ball, and can't get the K out, penalty kills the play with illegal shift.

Let's marvel at the sheer outright stupidity:

1. A run has no chance of another play to the EZ with 22 secs left and no TO's.

2. Not converting had no chance of getting the FG unit out in time.

3.  ATL's D is stout against the run (6th DVOA) and weaker vs. the pass (19th).

4.  A run therefore puts the FG in jeopardy, and pretty much kills any chance of a TD.

5.  Before you point it at heat-of-the-moment stuff - that was the play they came out a TIME OUT with.

Bravo, Lynn, bravo.

I'm honestly a little bit inclined to give him a pass for that field goal fiasco, because it seemed like that was more on Herbert and the confusion as to whether they got the first down or not.

Of course that doesn't change anything about his job security.

A run play should of never been called there and it's not on Herbert to have the kick team ready and out on the field. Shane and Lynn need to go and take Gus with them.

Herbert almost spiked it on fourth down. It was due to his inexperience that he tried to line up the offense when he should have hightailed it back to the bench when he realized he didnt get it.

Really after re-watching it, it looks like they clearly got the first down, and Herbert would have thus been in the right to try and line up for the spike but for a terrible spot by the officials. Regardless a veteran QB probably doesn't make the same mistake.

The confusion trickles down from coaching. Vet or rookie should of not been in that position. You dont run the ball there with 0 timeouts. You try a pass to the endzone, if nothing is there, throw it out back of the endzone, kicking unit comes out on the field.

This isn't new mismanagement by this staff.

Ehh. There was 22 seconds left. More than enough time to (most likely) spike the ball after a first down or get your field goal unit out if you get stuffed. I would definitely pass in that situation but it's not the egregious error people are claiming it to be.
