Again, you're not applying context and just looking at a final average as if that's how football is played.   The Patriots defense was giving up massive 40 yard chunk plays on broken coverages, and leaving entire sides of the field completely open for walk in touchdowns because of miscommunications/Gilmore.   In those games the Patriots managed to pull out a couple wins because Brady carried them there.   Smith hasn't had to do that - and the one time he was asked to against the Raiders he failed.  And that's even considering the missed field goals and the fluke bomb TD that bounced off the Raiders safeties hands into Hills(?) hands for a walk in TD.

Remember that one year where there were literal idiots who were saying Peyton Manning should win MVP because the Colts sucked since he wasn't playing?  Aaron Rodgers is the MVP this season.

Wow, you a literal idiot or what?

In the "Alex Mack from 2016" realm is Andrew Whitworth.

Mack had an enormous impact going to ATL last year and made everyone on their OL better.

Whitworth has, imo, been as impactful for LAR as any of the guys mentioned have been for their teams.  It'll never happen obviously, but it's a fun thought.

Yes, but I know I'm being an idiot, so if I know I'm being an idiot, am I being an idiot?

It is too early in my morning for this. Brain does not compute. Easiest to just assume that you are, in fact, an idiot :D

I still think Alex Smith is the front runner but Brady is closing in on him.  Stats for those interested:

Agree that I think it is very close. I have no horse in the race, i understand why either would be the pick. Both having great seasons. Obviously, I have more faith in Brady continuing his play, but certainly a nice run by Smith so far.
