RandyMossIsBoss
Perimeter defense is becoming vastly overrated. You can be the literal GOAT perimeter defender but you’re still a good screen away from being removed from where your impact will be most felt. In today’s NBA you are going to have to switch most of the time when everyone on the floor can shoot. Simmons may be the best damn perimeter defender in the game, but you’re not a max caliber player in the NBA if you cannot score in the half court. Simple as that. Of course he’s an asset to any team as a player, but as a core piece on a max deal?…. Not so sure. Takes a very specific fit. Defense is a team effort, you’ll only be as strong as your weakest link. You cannot take over on D like you can on O. Rudy Gobert is unquestionably the most impactful defender in basketball, but I don’t think anybody would call him a star or be happy to build around him because A) if you don’t have a great center, just go small and pull him out of paint, problem solved or B) if you have a great center, he’ll have no problem carving Rudy up (see: Jokic, Embiid) because elite offense beats elite defense at this level. Sorry for the rant, just so tired of the “but his defense!!” Yes he’s an elite defender. No that does not cover for averaging 9.9 points in the ECSF, nor having the skills to take over or close. The Bucks were an easier matchup for Philadelphia then the Hawks?

And Rudy's defensive impact as been the root of the Jazz's meltdowns the last two years in the playoffs. Because we were so dependent on him being able to defend the rim that when teams took him away from the paint on defense we got fried. Yet you take 2/3 games of not shooting, but still having double digit assists, and positive net impact with his defense and say he is a liability. A liability is someone who doesnt shoot and doesnt provide anything on the other end. Ben more than makes up for his deficiencies on the other end. I'm not talking about the dunk. I'm talking about jump shooting. And we have 600 games of evidence saying he won't shoot the ball past a few feet. In the playoffs it's something that can't be overcome. He's a liability. NYRaider
The fact that the Kings said they wouldn't give up Haliburton for Simmons says a lot about how other teams value him. I'd ask the Kings for a deal like this: Kings receive: Ben Simmons, Tyrese Maxey, Seth Curry 76ers receive: Harrison Barnes, Buddy Hield, Davion Mitchell, 2022 1st (unprotected), 2022 1st (top 5 protected) Or ask Toronto for a deal like this: Raptors receive: Ben Simmons, Tyrese Maxey 76ers receive: Fred VanVleet, OG Anunoby, 2022 1st (unprotected)
NYRaider
FVV - Green - OG - Harris - Embiid That's a pretty good team.

NYRaider
I think Cleveland could be an interesting spot for him if it's a multi team deal and they're willing to move Jarrett Allen.
