From UDFA in the Arena Football League, to a spark of hope for the Giants during our lean years in the late 90s, to 3-time Super Bowl champion. The other was Tony Jones, who was 54 when he passed in January, so he wasn't that much older than Patten. Both were undrafted out of Western Carolina, but beat the odds, and had long productive careers. Jones, like Patten also won multiple Super Bowls as a Denver Bronco. Sad vibes all around.
