Kirk has earned his pay thus far, in my opinion. But if the team is losing games that they could/should and that's causing us to lower expectations that is on coaching, most chiefly the head coach. We’re not nearly as talented as that 2017 team. Defensively is significantly worse, no comparable prime Rhodes, Joseph, Griffen, Waynes and Barr contributing on the roster. Offensively, the big difference now is the OL is better but the receivers probably favor the 2017 team given the lack of depth at TE. The 2018 team was arguably more talented too if we look at the best team Cousins has ever had. Seems the defensive fall off started around 2019 and into 2020. The Vikings had a top 11 scoring defense from 2014 through 2019. And nose dived starting in 2020. Woods was awful...and when he was first made DC in Denver, I pretty much laughed it off. He must have made some great strides since he was DB coach here, because his DBs were pretty much trash...well, at least the ones that weren't veterans already, ala Winfield, Sharper and Dwight Smith.
