2011 Alex, in 2021 Kyle's offense, would probably be a pretty exciting thing to watch. I think the players around him would praise his leadership just as much. I think Alex probably had a better arm than Jimmy. Jimmy the quicker release, though. Accuracy probably goes to Alex. Mobility, Alex. Jimmy probably a slightly better feel for the pocket. Intelligence and mastery of the playbook... give Alex 4 years in the system, and I have no doubt he's at least as good as Jimmy or better.

All this being said, we don't live in an alternate history, so we have Jimmy here and now. Do I believe in him in a 4th quarter in the playoffs? History so far has shown that... I hope Kyle has a great game plan that doesn't require a 4th quarter winning drive. If Jimmy does pull off a game winning drive, it would be epic for sure. What makes it even more epic, is that it would be shocking. And what makes it shocking, it's that for the most part, people don't believe in it, just like nobody believed in Alex's win against the Saints. I believe Jimmy has the potential to pull it off. But he hasn't done it in the playoffs so far. Let alone with a torn thumb and sprained shoulder, and whatever other ailment he'll end up with on Saturday.

As ridiculous as it sounds, when Shanahan has no choice to #LetJimmyCook that's when the guy seems to play his best ball.

If I don't trust Jimmy to play well in quarters 1, 2 or 3...I probably don't trust him to get things done in quarter 4.

Also, Alex had 5 game winning drives in 2011. Not sure it was so surprising that he could make that drive happen.

Jimmy has the worst playoff 4th quarter QB rating of any QB in the past 30 years.

Did he switch? Or was his dad just a Bears fan? He grew up in LA and talked a few times on the old Dave Dameshek podcast about how he was Rams fan and hated the 49ers growing up.

I follow him on twitter. He is a bears fan and always tweets about it/chicago. I dont know if he grew up a rams fan, but he seems to be pretty passionate about the bears.

You might have him mixed up with someone else

https://www.theringer.com/nfl-playoffs/2022/1/19/22890579/deebo-samuel-san-francisco-49ers-skeleton-key

fantastic article by the great Benjamin Solak

Quote

Samuel is smoke up until the moment he decides to be stone. Backfield tandems are often called thunder and lightning: Samuel is both packaged into one.

Quote

And as a ballcarrier, all of Samuel’s physical traits—his acceleration, his contact balance, his toughness—are delightful. But none of it would matter if Samuel didn’t have that inherent knack for space, timing, and angles. Samuel’s explosiveness is magnified by how well he manipulates tacklers who should have angles on stopping him.

Quote

It is difficult to imagine how Samuel developed this myriad of instincts. It’s even more difficult to imagine another player doing it anytime soon. That’s the true inimitability of Samuel, a player who opposing front offices will no doubt attempt to replicate this season. It’s not that he’s so explosive (even though he is) or so physical (even though he is) or so smart (even though he is). It’s not even that he’s a blend of all of those things. It’s that he is superlative in all areas, and somehow able to string all of those elite skills into one amorphous, superstar play style. He’s a phase-shifter, a rule breaker. He’s effortlessly everything all at once.

Naw, because like I said I religiously used to listen to that podcast. If you look up Adam Rank Rams you'll find a long post about his fandom via Facebook, and how he dropped the team I guess when they first left, and then took up his father's team the Bears. So I didn't know about that part with his pops.

https://www.facebook.com/adamrank/posts/being-a-rams-fan-was-a-weird-time-in-the-1990s-the-team-was-successful-in-the-19/10154490853463959/

So I guess he's not a fan of this new iteration from the wording in that post, but this was a few years ago. But if all he talks about is Bears now, well then yeah he hasn't hopped back on.
