Panthers already have Darnold on the fifth year option and if I'm Baker, I have no reason to extend right now to alleviate a cap hit. Falcons are swallowing 40M in dead money. Mariota as a bridge and he's worked with Smith in the past. Atlanta could be #1 overall pick bad this year with that roster. May as well play out the string.
