I most definitely didn't watch them religiously but I semi kept tabs on Coop. He's always had the ability no doubt about it. It's the consistency, durability and drive that hold him back. "Box score scouting" at it's finest but his game logs prove my point about how wildly up and down he was last year:

That is not production as a #1 WR, especially one with THAT contract.

I am trying my best not to look like a bitter Raider fan because I loved the Coop selection but man did he ever get old quickly for us, and seeing the fact Dallas may outright release him after only a couple years/seeing comments from Cowboys fans over the years sounds like nothing has changed.

Yeah, middle of the road WR isn’t what Coop is at all imo.

He has his shortcomings/flaws, but he could help out a lot of teams in a big way. Somehow only 27 still.

Again his ability it likely a top 5 WR. His career to this point however has been a disappointment. Likely going to be on team #3 and like you said only 27.

I hope whoever gets him doesn't back up the brinks truck for him is all and we get a Dallas situation 2.0. I hope he does well tbh.

Like, if you're Jax...with a ton of money and a bad need at the receiver position...

you're legitimately just not going to give up anything for Cooper before he's cut and run the risk that he'll just sign elsewhere? 

That's nearly as bad as Dallas just outright cutting the guy.

I’m on my phone so those stats posted all weird, but I don’t really care about numbers when it comes to Coop, especially this year. I watched enough Cowboys to know how great he was at doing his job as a receiver. 

I understand the gripes with him in his final year or two with the Raiders, but he hasn’t really had those drop issues much since coming to Dallas. He’s also been great for the younger guys. Often saw him coaching up Lamb and younger guys in camp. He played a huge role in getting Dak back on track.

I’m not sure what he’s doing/has done in Dallas points to him being a negative? 

Edit: I mean I guess he was making a little more than ideal.

 

He isn’t on that elite/top handful of guys level, but he’s still a fringe #1 type who you’re comfortable topping the depth chart with other competent pieces around him imo. Maybe it’s because he didn’t live up to your expectations I guess, but that’s still very valuable and something a ton of teams could use.

The only way this would make sense is if signing Gallup is much less expensive, but I have a feeling they will overpay for him.

Dude is easily one of the best route runners in the league. Durability is obviously a real thing, but the talent isn’t a question.

Nah, Raidersareone pretty much nailed it perfectly. Which is why he got labeled "soft as Charmin" ~2 years ago by @DaBoys.  Its a perfectly apt description. Look no further than the "win and your in" game against you guys in 2019. He got credited with like 3 drops, but I swear to god it was more like 10. Dak had broken fingers on each hand and a torn shoulder, you expect playmakers to step up. Amari never stepped up. 

The dude has a long history of disappearing on the road and having extremely inconsistent hands. But he is an elite route runner. That shouldnt be over looked. I would venture to guess he is top 3 route runner in the NFL.

I think the contract killed any chance at a trade. Not to mention it's considered yet another strong draft class at WR. So likely all teams figure they'll pay an FA when the time comes, or simply spend a top 64 pick helping the position. No point giving away assets just to take on that contract.

For those who care, his target quality rating was 18th, his true catch rating was 63. That delta suggest he wasnt living up to his potential. Additionally, Daks "true accuracy" (excludes things like throwaways) was #4 in the NFL, but Cooper was ranked 36th in separation, meaning he wasnt getting open:
