I kind of like how this one went.

Dislike my lack of OL and my missing on safeties. yes i know i took 2 but thats because our depth there is booty and 2 late round kids could easily make the team.

A bit needs heavy but

  • DE Jermaine Johnson - PFF isn’t as high on him for some reason but you sprint to get that in if he’s there. Would be worth trading up a bit for too.
  • Trade: Move back with the Bills, once 18 hit the board leveled out for awhile. Bills moved up for a wideout. Considered the Chiefs proposal too but was too far to drop.
  • S Lewis Cine - Great tools, would come in and start immediately back there.
  • Trade: I saw a guy we wanted and the board at the position didn’t look stable enough to wait, little less than value should’ve been but they need the picks in Houston.
  • DT Travis Jones - the freak that people don’t talk about as much. Sliding back down into the second I had to pop up and go get him. Makes next year when Fletch is gone easier, and this year even allows them to move Fletch even easier at the deadline should they want to and our season is going south.
  • WR Alec Pierce- Think he’ll go higher, think he’s a great polished wideout. Tall, does all that you need. Thrilled to get him at #57. Needed a wideout who could start longterm across from DeVonta.
  • CB Marcus Jones - If he had even two more inches he’d be a top #40 pick probably. Little undersized but is fast and plays the ball super well. Bonus he is a return specialist too.
  • Trade: Saw the value of more future assets and took it. Missed out on a couple guys I liked though at RB and TE.
  • S Percy Butler - Good coverage safety that fits the scheme. Think he’ll go in this range. We have to add some depth with upside, push Kvon.
  • HB Zonovan Knight - Wanted to add to the RB room, particularly with a guy who could turn into a starter or a guy who can get you hard yards inside. Knight is more of the latter.
  • TE James Mitchell - Athletic upside TE to sure up the depth after Goedert.
  • ILB Micah McFadden - Projects into that same role as Edwards. Downhill bigger guy.
  • P Matt Araiza - Legally obligated to draft him with our last pick
  • Trade: Put it in there to address Dillard, think they move him for a conditional day 2 pick for 2023. Standard is a 3rd but can go up or down depending how he plays.

No QBs struck my interest later to develop. Think they’ll sign the kid from Brown as a UDFA.

Adding a G/T would’ve been nice but the board didn’t really match up. I also think Stout makes getting OL UDFAs into the building easier.

Would hope they bring in some other WRs to compete.

They sign a vet CB if this young group doesn’t emerge a winner opposite Slay.

Do not like Marcus Jones. He's a slot CB only, and we have Maddox.

He’s a good player who plays the ball well and adds a lot of special team value. Tackles surprisingly well, doesn’t avoid contact. He’s short but he’s not limited athletically to the slot. Also can play on offense as a move piece / flanker.

Am I going to want him opposite Mike Evans? No. But guy like Jones can stay in the back pocket of guys like Adams, Godwin, OBJ, Hill, Waddle and has the ability to play the ball when he’s there.

We have a ton of developmental outside corners. If we’re not getting a clear starter there in the draft I’m not going to look at guys who can just do that.

For all intents and purposes consider it a need unfulfilled, they’ll sign a vet to patch it over and see if anyone develops.

A fun weapon for all three phases is how I see him, like the versatility. More ways to make a dent than just another guy to compete for snaps on the outside with Zech, Gowan, etc.

Araiza isn't making it past rd 4. Kid is special and a game changer on ST. Fact he can be your emergency FG kicker as well all but guarantees that IMO.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if the Rams take him in the 3rd to replace Hekker for the next decade!

I agree with your assessment on Jones but I don't think I'd want to draft him that early personally. I'd love to be able to get him on day 3 but maybe I'm being optimistic. It's just his size limits where he can lineup on D.

If Araiza is gone in round 4, then count me out. I'd rather sign a vet at that point.
