The Lions organization has worked diligently to secure the NFL draft in Detroit. Principal owner Sheila Ford Hamp serves on the NFL's Super Bowl and Major Events advisory committee, which makes decisions where the draft will be held every year. I havent been back to Detroit in ~11 years, but at that time, parts of the city were still rough. I had my guard up more there than on the subway in NYC at 3am. I genuinely hope this helps spark a renaissance of sorts for the city. At the very least, an economic stimulus for the area.
