I see both sides to this -- interesting points

I think long term, should Malik take over next year or the following (and Ryan moves on), it'd be huge to add in a vet QB backup over Woodside. Don't really care who...but just someone who has stuck around in the league forever and knows how to prep, coach on sidelines, etc...huge

tbh......hot take but there's almost nobody better for malik to model himself after than ryan tannehill. for all his faults, where tannehill absolutely excels is within the structure of our offense. when everything's on time he's cash money. it's when things break down and we really "need a bucket" so to speak that tannehill tends to not be up to challenge. this of course is the exact inverse of where malik is right now. malik already shines outside of structure, but struggles to operate efficiently within it. if he knows what's good for him, he's hanging on ryan's every move in the QB room.

(having said that, i do agree that an experienced vet backup would be a good idea if and when malik takes the reins)
