Yes his athleticism was gone, but he made up for it with intangibles, intelligence, and anticipation.

This, he more than made up for his declining athleticism with tremendous leadership and accountability. He demanded greatness out of his teammates, they couldn't have won it without him.

Well yes I absolutely agree. Just saying physically he was pretty done in those last 2 years. Heck, there were some games I remember where he'd do everything right until it was time to physically make the tackle, which he had trouble at times finishing.
