Draft lottery

It's been rumored that the league is considering a draft lottery. Seeing the NBA completely effs that up each year has me dead set against the NFL following along.

Of last years bottom 5 teams-

1. Jacksonville Jaguars 6-8 fighting for playoffs

2. Detroit Lions 7-7 fighting for playoffs

3. Houston Texans 1-12-1 abysmal

4. New York Jets 7-7 fighting for the playoffs

5. New York Giants 8-5-1 currently the 6th seed in the playoffs

Getting top picks and having competent front offices (for most of them) have resulted in a huge turn around. That is directly linked to getting top rookies that are impacting their rosters. If you create a system where the worst teams do not have the choice of the best players, you remove parity from the league and reduce fan interest. Why fix what's not broken?

So, I'm curious about where the fanbase here stands.

1. Do you support a lottery for the draft?

2. Do you believe "tanking" is such an issue that you need to change the structure of your product?

3. Do you believe draft lotteries deter tanking or encourage it?

@Louis FriendDo we have a link about this rumor? I haven’t heard anything.

Goodell blurted out a tidbit a few months back that neither confirmed nor denied anything.

Should The NFL Have A Draft Lottery?

The phrase that many in the National Football League talk about is being discussed again; that phrase is Draft Lottery

but at some point, especially with the relationship the league has in gaming now, at some point, we’re going to move to a lottery system in the NFL.

It's been brought up before and downplayed, but it seems to be picking up steam once again.

The NFL's single minded obsession with "drama' thinking it makes compelling TV is gonna bite it in the *** one day.

Nobody would like this, people already hate the NBA lottery, could you imagine being a 1 win team like the Texans and because of bizarre lotto math, you get screwed like the Knicks a few years ago and pick 3rd? You're just creating unnecessary tension where it didn't exist before, for no reason other than what, one night of additional TV ratings?

Tanking is not an issue in the NFL IMO

Coaches can't tank, it costs them their jobs

its hard to tank with a team of 55 guys

There are less games by a wide margin than any other sport. 1 win can move you from top 5 to top 15.

Precisely. The sheer volume of people associated with an NFL team makes a coordinated effort to tank impossible. Best you can really do is pull starters but there are too many people to sabotage in order to intentionally tank in this league.
