LaRon Landry was a bum for the Colts, lol. He had a decent year with the Jets, but they didn't care enough to try and hold on to him.

Oh ok, then it was with the Jets in 2012 when he had 100 tackles and 8 passes defensed - the year we could’ve franchised him - but franchised Fred Davis instead, we could have really used him in 2012 especially bc of Merriweather’s injury issues.

In 2013 Landry still had 87 tackles for the Colts, what safety did we have in 2013 or 2014 who would’ve been a better option than him? No one!

Actually, Merriweather and Landry would’ve made a decent tandem in 2013 & 14 at S, it would’ve been better than starting Rambo and Doughty. Our D would’ve been a little better those years just off of that alone.

Anyways, My point is that he ended up being a better player for a few more years than Fred Davis did who was out of the league even before Laron and our safety play got worse immediately after Laron was gone. I wasn’t a huge Laron guy - he wasn’t great in coverage and he took too many knock out type hits instead of form tackling - but he was better than Fred Davis, and our defense needed the talent like him in 2012 more than our offense did. He should’ve been franchised instead of Fred, I don’t know how anyone can say otherwise.

As someone who basically swore off the music industry in 1997 (I objected to them suing their consumers over MP3s), I will be curious to see this. Definitely wouldn't mind a guided tour of the R&B/rap scene because that wasn't really music timeframe of choice. By that, I mean I found myself always listening to music 15-20 years older than what was current (oldies growing up, got into 80s music right before I swore off the music industry, etc.).

I look forward to the education.

Of course, if some of you would get involved with my side project, it would be nice as well (see NFL General).

I will be joining, just waiting for the full bevy of week 1 lines.

Early comment - for those of us who are ... shall we say ... less knowledgeable (I can spell "rap") about the genre, a little information about the artist/place in the genre (East Coast/West Coast/Atlanta/whatever) would be nice. Doesn't need to be a treatise, but why this artist, why this song, and how he/she fits into the genre (or something like that) would be nice.

Sounds good. I’m into it!

Shanahan bears responsibility as well. In 4 seasons he only had 1 winning season and it just so happened to be with Mr. Heisman as his qb. In 2010 he went along with the McNabb trade despite his son telling him he didn’t fit the offense well. Kyle wanted his daddy to sign Bulger to start, have Grossman back him up and draft someone to develop.

2011 he dumped McNabb - he could do that unilaterally bc he had final say over football operations - and the defense got better but bc Grossman was the QB the offenss and had more turnovers, we lost more games.

He staked his reputation on Grossman and Beck! Well his reputation went to ish.

Let’s not forget under Shanahan our defense sucked every year but in 2011 when Bowen, Cofield, Carriker, Orakpo, Josh Wilson, Landry and Atogwe were healthy most of the year. Then, they franchised Fred Davis over Landry which was stupid! Smoke Dog Fred smoked himself out of the league and Landry went on to have a few more good season and I believe a pro bowl season in Indy.

He didn’t handle the RG3 injury properly as a HC. The HC determines who plays, no one else and again, he had final say which was proven by when he cut McNabb who Allen & Snyder wanted to keep.

2013 was going to be a bad year no matter what but again he as the HC had control of his roster. He didn’t need to start RG3 week 1, but he gave into public pressure, pressure from the 23 year old Qb and pressure from ownership when RG wasn’t ready to start.

And let’s not act like 2013 would’ve been any different if Kirk had started. Kirk at the end of 2013 & in 2014 is the one we would’ve gotten. Throwing for 250 yards a game but equal TDs to ints abd every few games having a 3 to 4 int game.

2013 RG3 wasn’t awful the entire season, is was downright special in a few games like vs San Diego & Chicago and was the QB for Garcon’s record setting reception season.

Shanahan sucked here. He didn’t suck here because of RG3. He just wasn’t any good of a coach. And the only reason he didn’t fully suck here was because griffin was really good for one year. Other than that his time here was a disaster.

That isn't entirely fair.  They intentionally tanked the season with Beck so they could land either Luck or another top QB prospect.  He also inherited a dumpster fire roster from Vinny C.  He was never able to build a defense, but he built the running game into a powerhouse.  He drafted the best players on our roster right now (T Will, Kerrigan, Reed).

Wait what? When did they tank a season with Beck? They could have played beck all year and “sucked for Luck...” but they didn’t. They specifically told everyone the team could win with Grossman and he was better for the team than McNabb which, ended up not being true.

They played Grossman! Grossman was just good enough to win one less game than McNabb had the year before even though the Roster was better in 2011 than it was in 2010. Beck only played 3 games because Grossman got hurt.

Sure he drafted a few good players - two of them were 1st rounders - he also missed on just about every other draft pick  except Reed and Cousins.

If you are drafting players for 4 drafts, and trade back to acquire dozens of more picks - passing on the likes of JJ Watt and Robert Quinn - I would hope that you’d hit on more than one player in that 2011 draft.

He could’ve left the defense alone and never made the stupid McNabb trade. He created his own mess. The same way he did in Denver.
