What teams are realistically going to trade for him though? I don't think you can move on from him without a clear plan in place and going to a stop gap guy after a playoff run seems like a recipe for disaster. Daboll was instrumental in Josh Allen's development, tag Jones, get him a #1 WR and see if he can make a leap before you pay him. If things don't work out they'd still be in a great spot to bring in/develop a young QB next offseason.

Daboll was huge in Allen’s development, but Allen had insane physical skills and just needed to be coached up. Jones is the total opposite… he was already coached up quite well coming into the league, he just lacks a lot of physical tools that would make him great. Daboll trying to develop someone like Richardson or Levis would be interesting.

Playoff caliber team, they should be aggressive in ditching Danny and trying to get a better QB. Don’t make the same mistake the Raiders did all these years with Carr. They should trade for Rodgers or draft a QB.

All well and good, Who?

How sustainable is it though? They had a negative point differential on the year and 8/9 wins were by a single score. Those things don't tend to go your way the following year. Right now they don't have Saquan under contract and their two best WRs are Hodgins and WanDale.

How are they getting into the top 10 to draft them though?

****ed if you, ****ed if you don't.

Meh non exclusive franchise tag for the lower value and hoping you can bait a dumb team into signing him plus he gets to see what he's worth on the market with the *option* to match depending on the contract.

Personally I'd leave it up to Daboll and whether he wants Jones as his starter or if he thinks it's worth drafting their guy in the late first round, later rounds.

QBs do fall through the cracks and coaching is definitely a good way to fix that.

But honestly no matter what there's no good option here either way.

Franchise Tag and hope to god this man goes Eli/Flacco on ya.

They definitely have to hit him with the non-exclusive tag, I didn't realize the exclusive tag for QBs is up to $45M. That's insane.

In what world does Jones lack physical traits? He's got great size, good speed and movement abilities, and a good arm. Nothing there is holding him back. What has always held him back in the NFL is processing, pocket presence, and ball security. Jones has better physical tools than Will Levis.

Rational, normal Giants fans are all hopeful about the team's future because Daboll and Schoen are so close and "in lock-step". If Schoen is so adamant about bringing Daniel Jones back on a long term contract, it is mostly because Daboll has made it clear he wants Jones back as his QB. We trust those 2 guys are making the best decision for the team, and it is why we think the lack of downfield throwing was by design, not because of a deficiency of Daniel Jones's game.

His arm’s okay, but it’s pretty average. Levis definitely has better arm talent IMO.

Not that you need a howitzer to be a good quarterback, but that’s definitely not a strength (or a weakness, just “okay”).

That's insulting and barely above good backup money.

If I meant to insult him I'd hand him a bus ticket, as half of the responders here would, and I certainly wouldn't be offering him a 2-year deal.  (N.B.:  The Giants' schedule turns nasty in 2023.)

Say what you will about Jones, but he was an effective starter last season with no one to throw to.

Sort of.  Daniel Jones (PFF:17th, DYAR:18th, FPPG:15th) was an average QB by all metrics except the two that put the others in perspective:  Average Depth of Target and Ease of Schedule.  He is average while throwing the second shortest passes against the weakest defenders in the league.  To say his numbers benefit from good coaching and soft scheming and scheduling would be an understatement.

The only reason to make any offer is that Daboll has invested a year in DJ's development.  Well, that and the projection that the NYGs will likely be drafting much higher next year.  The team has other areas that need attention in 2023.

Lmao no he doesn’t. Levis has a rocket arm, Jones arm is nothing special what so ever. Keep living in fantasy land.
