ESPN lets go of substantial NFL coverage staff

ESPN doing cost cutting after handing McAfee $20M a year is wild. Just admitting they're pivoting from what was left of actual coverage to try and fully compete in the social space and engagement metrics. Brutal shaving, Sozy Kolber being fired is absurd, she basically WAS ESPN NFL coverage.

Max Kellerman which basically kills what remained of their limited boxing coverage.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Did see him listed as well.

They are really picking a direction here

Other sports were hit some too.

Jeff Van Gundy. Friggin JEFF VAN GUNDY.

Christmas came early for TNT and their NBA coverage team. Van Gundy color commentating with Shaq, Chuck, Ernie and Kenny in studio? Oh man, that is MUST watch TV.

I would have kept McShay over Kiper.

Also how did Mark Jackson survive? Should have been one of the first to go.

These decisions are rarely based on perception, moreso based on money.

I think mcshay is better at it right now, but kiper is the personality and that's what they are going for. It's less about the coverage now for them and more about the people
