For me it was the drop by Thielen (the first time) and the poor throw by Keenum to Diggs.

While the 3 plays you pointed out were uncharacteristic of our team, they were very good plays made by the Panthers. You cannot say the same about the others. The Panthers did not defend those plays, they didn’t do anything to cause the incompletions, poor plays on our part were the reasons.

With those two plays, we go into halftime with all of the momentum, and the lead. And making the other play would have also given us the lead with roughly 3 minutes to go, completely changing the game.

Fair point about momentum, but it was a 1-point game at half. Not sure it made that big a difference

We missed out on 4 points. That was huge.

Also, taking that momentum into the locker room on the road would have been huge. Instead we gave Carolina, and their fans, the momentum after holding us to a field goal and keeping the lead.

We left 7 points, that should have been gimmes, on the field. And that was the difference in the game.

ball only bounced our way once today - the tipped pass to Sendejo.

too many mistakes from most every unit (except special teams, they did well), receivers' hands that have always been reliable were not, and the defense giving up those two 60 yard runs.

Keenum made several errors and several good plays. he was part of the loss but certainly not the sole cause by any means.

we shrug it off and fight another day. all of the above are recoverable mistakes, but we do have to wonder about Reiff's status now...

Let's not forget the ugly Rudolph drop. Would have put us around field goal range.

Was working today so missed most of the game.  Let's keep everything in perspective gentlemen: we can't win them all, and the other guys get paid to play too.  Let's just hope we can regroup and play better the rest of the season.

It's how the team lost that is troubling. Keenum took way too many sacks, hopefully the OL can get healthy. Keenum also threw some bad passes and made some bad decisions.

The receivers didn't make the plays we are accustomed to seeing and look at the result, a poor game by Keenum.

Order of blame

#1  Defense

#2  Offensive Line

#3  Receivers with the dropsies

I thought Keenum played good enough to win the game.   Our run game seemed non existent.     At this point, I'm not worried one bit.  It was 3 road games in a row against all tough opponents.     We are still sitting with basically a 2 game lead for the playoff bye.    Our biggest opponent in the conference just lost their star player for the season.   So it could be a lot worse for us.

Why are people coming CK'S defense in saying "he played well enough to win"

1) it's literally not true

2) it's a convenient way to shift the blame that could then be used anyway necessary; e.g. "the defense played well enough, Keenum just missed plays"

Keenum had a bad game, it's ok, it's allowed to happen. Everyone saying that he didnt play well has also said he's earned the benefit of the doubt and shouldn't be bench.

Just think it's weird, admitting he had a bad game doesn't take away what he's accomplished this year.

That's right. He didn't play well enough to win. In fact he had an opportunity to take the team down the field and didn't capitalize on it. The defense didn't play well enough to win, and neither did the offensive line. No one did. This was a player loss all the way around.

Also, Cam is a freak, and he made plays against a Zimmer defense that he's never done before. There were several plays where Cam Newton is literally the only player in the league physically capable of making the plays that he did. Maybe Wentz could have. Specifically the sack escape for a TD, and the long run.
