Belongs to the 49ers.

I think Seattle over achieved last season and Smith takes a step back.

Rams defense is going to give up 25PPG so unless Stafford/Oline can hold up for an entire season, they'll be looking at 0.500

Cards are bottom 2 team in the league.

San Francisco as #1 may seem like a no-brainer but it's really a curiosity bordering on paradox.  They were dead last in draft capital and, sure enough, did little to help their cause there.  Their free agency performance was average overall but ahead of the rest of the NFC-West.  Despite this, they enter 2023 with the highest rated players in the league, up from 10th entering 2022, after being 2nd in DVOA last year.  That is, almost all of their players upgraded their performance in 2022.  They were 24th in fewest games lost to injury but, for them, that was a banner year.  Arizona (29th) and the Rams (31st) were not so "lucky".  Somehow, San Fran has the easiest (5th overall) 2023 win/loss schedule in the division.

Seattle (Agg:13th, up from 22nd entering 2022; DVOA:10th; Inj:8th fewest; Ease of W/L Schedule:10th) is a distant but clear second.  The Rams and Cards will wait for their schedules to lighten in 2024.

Probably goes without saying but outside of the division games, the Niners have the most difficult schedule. They just get the benefit of playing the Seahawks, Rams and Cardinals six times - which at worst is probably 4-2, but I would be on 6-0 again.

The only thing IMO that could make this a race is if the Niners return to their "normal" rash of injuries.

The 49ers a lock. The real question to me is if this core doesn’t ever win a ring will it go down as one of the biggest disappointments in nfl history. A case can be made that they have had the best roster in football since 2019 and have zero rings to show for it. Look at how they were dominating last year with Brock Purdy who is the definition of meh.

I think they are the inverse of the Chiefs from last year and in some ways, the later Brady led Patriot teams.

Both the Chiefs and Patriots had the best QB in the league and while they definitely had talent in other places, definitely not to the level the NIners do outside of the QB room. I think every playoff loss for them has boiled down to QB play, and you really saw it in the losses to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl and the Rams in the NFCCG when their offense stalled while the other teams offenses came alive on the back of good QB play.

Their QB is too bad to be considered that big of a letdown. They have had bottom 1/3 QB play during this run. I would expect them to win one soon, but if not, it won’t be that surprising given the gigantic disparity between their QB and whoever comes out of the AFC (probs Mahomes).

Agreed.

And there are always these type of teams every 5-10 years that we just kind of forget about after a while because they didn't get it done, but every decade has them.

Bottom 1/3 QB play naw dawg I can't subscribe to that interpretation of the situation. Ok maybe when one mixes in the Hoyers, Beathards, and Mullens' of the world sure. The squad also wasn't that great overall the majority of those games started by those players. Jimmy and Purdy combined weren't/aren't plummeting the team down that far down the starting QB landscape though. It's not like they've been operating like the Jets were last season where QB play was legit burying the team's efforts to try and win any game.

Perhaps the overwhelming votes for the 49ers in this poll says more about the other 3 teams than SF.

Well, San Francisco [or Philadelphia] will be #1 in most overall metrics with no obvious NFC challengers while the Rams and Arizona are bottom two by a number of indicators.  For what it's worth, Seattle [and the Chargers] would be favorites in either Southern division and should contend for wild cards.
