Hardly the point though. I do believe the state of Florida, possibly Florida State may be gearing up to sue. Not sure how that is going to play out and doubt anything will happen. It would be disappointing if FSU didn't fight for their kids. Even more disappointing if the ACC didn't join in.

What exactly are the grounds for any lawsuit?

Maybe

Ron DeSantis slams CFP, wants to sue over Florida State's snub

Quote

DeSantis, speaking at a news conference to detail his proposed $114.4 billion budget for Florida, said he is asking for $1 million to let FSU sue the CFP committee even though the championship will be decided months before a budget is approved. The semifinals are set for Jan. 1, with the championship game to be played Jan. 8.

DeSantis is such a pandering tool.

Florida State should not play in the bowl game. Even if the lawsuit gets thrown out, which it will, they have to go after the committee. The ACC should join them.

Not playing the bowl game only helps the CFP committee.  If FSU really wants to sue, they need to beat Georgia first.

I'd respectfully disagree with this. FSU, telling the committee we' are not settling for a bowl game doesn't hurt their cause at all. That game is a complete let down for their team. Most of, if not all of their guys going to the draft are sitting out and they should.

It will not be representative of the product they would put on the field in the playoffs.

The committee said they looked at how hard they struggled to get a first down against Louisville. Two things, Louisville has a damned good defense. More importantly, that kid was not going to be the quarterback in the playoffs. That was a complete bull**** answer.

If was such a bull****, SEC biased move to put Alabama in. Why didn't it matter how badly Alabama looked against Auburn one week earlier?

I would have had an ounce of respect for the committee had they come out and told the truth. The ratings are better with an SEC team in the playoffs. Therefore, long-term monetary return is better with Alabama than Florida State.

What do the players gain for skipping the bowl? What does it look like to the commits? How about the fans who buy tickets/flights/hotels? Does the team reimburse them?

Seems like a pouty temper tantrum more than a logical solution.

if you want to compete for a college football championship dont join the acc. Its a basketball conference.

The whole college football system is busted. Home field advantage is such a huge factor.

Georgia, alabama, ole miss, texas, michigan, ohio state, oklahoma. These are the best teams. Fsu washington and oregon should be on the outside looking in.

If it was about finding the best team, it would be 8 team neutral field playoff. But its not. Its about exploiting young people for profit and commandeering academic enterprise in pursuit of this.

/hot take
