yes, there's always one that hurts more than the others.

but then, we beat the 49ers too.

I think the big thing with this win streak is that none of the wins feel flukey (maybe the ATL game, maybe not). They are playing well enough to beat SF, NO, etc straight up. The losses feel flukey in the same way the wins did last year.

All comes down to turnovers. Can’t win if you turn the ball over multiple times per games while the defense isn’t getting the ball back. That basically sums up the first month.

The Vikings have now won five in a row — the longest winning streak in the NFL at the moment.

At 6-4, the Vikings are very much in the NFC playoff race, thanks in large part to quarterback Josh Dobbs, who has exceeded expectations with his stellar play since arriving in a trade with the Cardinals and being rushed into duty in replacing Cousins. With the way Dobbs and the rest of the team are playing, there’s every reason to believe they can keep that winning streak going.

That’s especially true given the Vikings’ schedule: They’re at Denver on Sunday, followed by a home Monday night game against the Bears, then their bye week and then a trip to Las Vegas. It’s easy to see the Vikings winning those three games and being on an eight-game winning streak when they head to Cincinnati in Week 15.

The Vikings also are not out of the NFC North race, despite the Lions’ status as the favorites. Detroit is 1.5 games ahead of Minnesota, but the Lions and Vikings face off in Week 16 and Week 18, so all the Vikings have to do is stay within two games of the Lions to control their division destiny heading into the final three weeks of the season.

After so much pessimism surrounding the Vikings for most of this season, it’s increasingly looking like a bright season in Minnesota, and one that may not be over when the regular season concludes.

Detroit's remaining schedule:

Bears
Packers (Thanksgiving)
at Saints
at Bears
Broncos
at Vikings (Christmas Eve day)
at Cowboys
Vikings

Not a very difficult schedule for Detroit either. Basically need to stay within a game or two of them and hope we can sweep them at seasons end. Might be the only real shot at the division.

Agreed, division games almost always have that "weird" factor and they've got 5 left. Hopefully Dallas can help us out as well. Of course we've got to continue taking care of our own business.

ESPN updated its Football Power Index (FPI) on Monday and classified the Vikings in a Tier 3 playoff group called “Likely in, barring a collapse.”

ESPN’s Seth Walder handed Minnesota an 86% playoff probability, with a 22% chance to win the NFC North, and explained: “Does quarterback Joshua Dobbs have even more magic in him? At first, it seemed Minnesota’s playoff hopes were dashed with Kirk Cousins’ season-ending Achilles injury. But after Dobbs led the team to upsets over the Falcons and Saints — two of the Vikings’ competitors for a wild-card spot — Minnesota’s season didn’t seem quite so over after all.”

“Brian Flores’ blitz-happy defense has been solid and a surprising bonus for the Vikings, who can more than hold their own against the rest of the candidates for the NFC’s No. 7 spot even without their starting quarterback.”

a couple more wins and they won't be talking about us shooting for #7 any more...

Also, I don't love calling Dobbs' performance "magic". He's super smart, and the coaches are doing right by him and the team. You can't have watched the ATL game and then the NO game and feel like it was more of the same.

Agreed.  Dobbs and Cousins are 2 completely different style QBs and the game-plans have adjusted to show as much.

According to ESPN’s Power Football Index (FPI), the Vikings own an 86.4% probability of reaching the playoffs, the eighth-best odds for any team in football, including both conferences. Six weeks ago, it would’ve been weird to dream about Minnesota in the postseason. Now, it’s the opposite — it would be mind-boggling if it missed the cut.

And the playoff positivity isn’t just an ESPN FPI ordeal. The New York Times playoff simulator assigned the Vikings an 83% postseason probability, as well, after Week 10.

The Vikings are beating the teams they must beat — they were not doing that before — especially NFC foes that may be in the postseason hunt next month, and cleaned up the untidy operations.

If the playoffs began today, Minnesota would travel to Detroit for a date with the Lions.
