Well I mean... That is generally the better way to get the most out of Jackson, a very good pocket passer.

Has Dobbs demonstrated good accuracy and success on rollouts? Do we know that the best way to use him?

It's pretty comical that as of a few weeks ago KOC was talked of as a coach of the year candidate and now after 2 games where the team loses the turnover battle 7-2 and the defense gives up two late go ahead scores (yes I know more happened in those games then just that), KOC is what.... Firable?

Did we all forget that Dobbs is this team's 4th quarterback option?

“Coach of the year candidate” was seemingly after the Saints game, NO/ATL might of had a decent amount of Dobbs calling his own number, and just rolling out of the pocket, as he just didn’t have knowledge in KOC plays, potentially even if KOC was calling exactly opposite of what Dobbs did. The last 2 games it looks like Dobbs is doing what KOC is calling, which is standing behind the pocket and throw. However Dobbs is slow to release or late to start motion, so it’s looking bad out there. Those balls not on target are leading to those INT. Dobbs is just not accurate/fast enough (so passes are late/behind) on passes to effectively run the offense KOC wants (and likely will continue to call).

If that is the case, i think we should let Mullens or Hall start then.

We know this wasn’t the case, from KO, to Dobbs, to sideline and mic’d up audio.

it’s really easy to not make things up.

KOC showed today that he is not a flexible play caller / schemer. Everyone knows the best way to get the most out of Dobbs is to roll him out of pocket let him either throw or run or put in design runs etc (ATL/NO game by default due to Dobbs lack of KOC scheme).  KOC called a game for Kirk Cousins tonight, while ignoring the best aspects of Dobbs, and emphasizing Dobbs worse aspects (pure pocket passing).

forget about wanting a mobile QB with KOC, KOC looks like he’d ask Lamar Jackson to stay behind his OL in the pocket and just throw passes

True, but O'Connell has nothing to do with Dobbs throwing stupid passes that are either not on time or lack in velocity or are just thrown in bad spots with multiple defenders all around.  Dobbs almost threw what 5-6 INTs against Denver and against Chicago he literally threw 4 INTs and could have been 5 or more....  That is O'Connell's fault?  Maybe for putting him out there, hopefully they give Hall a shot depending on who looks better in practice during the Bye Week.

Hopefully he is flexible because Jayden Daniels and Jalen Milroe are both mobile QBs and with how suspect the OL play has been a mobile QB obviously makes them look a lot better and can get them to run the ball more than they have been.  And doubt they stick with Kirk Cousins but maybe he will realize he is a freaking multi millionaire and will take a big pay cut just to try and win...

Will be very interesting what the Bears to with Justin Fields on the last year of his deal next season.  Doubt they pass on Caleb Williams but assuming they trade Fields but not sure what they would get for him.

Would Cousins take a $20 million dollar pay cut to stay with the team?  In a way makes one realize how solid he was but then again Dobbs does not throw all those INTs or close to INTs the past few games they probably win both and are 8-4 without Cousins or Jefferson the past few weeks....

Dobbs shouldn't be suiting up again. Hall for the rest of the year, see what we have. He has cost us the past 2 games to be fair.

If KOC decides to roll with Hall after the bye he needs to stick with him for the remainder of the season. flip flopping between QBs won't help the team or either QB.

Dobbs looked lost last night and I would be for starting Hall the rest of the way. He has a much higher chance of staying with the team for the next few seasons so let's see what he's got

It's hard to have Dobbs roll out of the pocket when the defense you're playing against is anticipating it every play and holding the edge.  The Bears defense played extremely well last night as they exploited the weaknesses that are evident in Dobbs.

Once again, the balls that Dobbs throw have far too much air under them, so they are not on time (although it has gotten a little better).  While I understand that KOC should probably improve his play-calling, he'll have that opportunity now with the Bye week to maybe adjust the game plans a little better to suit Dobbs.

When you're in the midst of playing games 12 weeks in a row, you can't just all of a sudden install a new offense, which is likely what would have to be done to suit Dobbs' strengths.  Dobbs has to adjust the best he can to the offense that has already been installed.

I don't know what to make of this game.  If the putrid offensive were only a Minnesota thing, then I'd really be concerned. But, as the ESPN talking heads have indicated, offensive output is down across the league this year.  It seems as if the teams with the better defenses are having their way this season.  Despite some dumb decisions by the Vikings offense, the Bears defense was the best unit on the field last night.

The dumb decision by O'Connell was trying to stay with the passing game, even while the Chicago secondary was shutting down Viking receivers throughout.  O'Connell weakness as a play caller is that he is focused on the passing attack, when consistently running the ball is the only way to beat tight coverage. Maybe he has no confidence in calling running plays?

Anyway, I'd be more depressed if this was only happening to the Vikings. In 2023, winning football games means playing great defense...which is why the Vikings are in every game.  They are a good defense...just not a great one.
