2024 Free Agency

-Trey Smith... (move JPJ to C, his natural position.)

-Tee Higgins...RedZone possession receivers are a rookie QBs (likely) best friend aside from a good TE which we have.

-Jevon Holland...Epps probably won't return.  Hopefully Wilkins helps us land an old buddy.

That's the dream wishlist.

Q said the Jets are likely going to cut Mike Williams and there’s a good chance we sign him.

If that's true we're going to have harsh competition from KC I'd imagine. They need a WR as much as we do and are fighting for another superbowl. If they show interest, I don't think anyone sign with us over them right now.

I’m surprised that they weren’t in on Amari Cooper and didn’t look to add a WR during their bye week. Seems like it was would have been the perfect time to integrate someone into the offense.

Tee Higgins is going to get a bag this offseason, IIRC Telesco never really spent big on skill position guys in free agency with the Chargers.

Extended Kennan Allen and Mike Williams. Never had to go the FA route.

Even before they drafted Mike Williams or he even became a factor they never spent big on skill guys in FA.

I like Higgins but you're going to have to give him elite WR1 money when he has never proven to be that type of player.

Right now, I do not want to see big money spent on any FAs until we get the line and QB taken care of.  It is pointless and delays the improvement.

That list was contingent on taking a QB.  I wouldn't honestly either if we don't have a viable answer at QB.  That said... upgrading the OL and adding a Tee Higgins-like redzone guy is to a rookie QBs advantage.

Add in that the CBA dictates that a certain percentage of cap must be spent.  (how we have 34 million in space RN is beyond me with no repercussion)

Pretty sure it's over a 4 year period, not year-to-year.

It also has to do directly with cash spending, so even though we're under on cap space our cash spending can be at or over the cap number, which I believe we have been the last few years. I think this year was the first year we've been frugal with cash outflow.
