If you think they're truly the best team in the NFL going into next season, do you also believe that in a series matchup (3 or 5 games) vs. SF and BAL they'd win those matchups?

Yes. They have the best QB in football. Arguably the second best QB ever at this point. He’s better than Lamar and it’s not even remotely close. They absolutely would beat you consistently because of that factor.

And don’t take this as a slight to Lamar. Lamar is a freakin baller. Just Mahomes is so much better than everyone else that it’s stupid. It’s just Brady all over again.

I don't understand how the niners were so unprepared for the blitz on late downs. Happened several times

I think who and where the blitz came from is part of it.  Purdy tried throwing to where it came from, but McDuffie batted the pass.

Just got home reading through replies -

GG to 49ers fans, obv.

I've been a super outspoken Kyle overrated guy and a Brock apologist, but if you think either one of them was to blame today, I think you're smoking crack.

In fact, I think if you are looking to blame anyone, you're doing it wrong. The 9ers could not have lost a closer game and I didn't disagree with any of the decisions. It was just each team delivering blows and making plays on both sides of the ball.

There is 0 shame in losing a game this close and if the logic people are using is "Kirk Cousins would have won", then I am trying to figure out what dimension I'm in. Kyle's been unlucky but he's still obviously a great coach and one game doesn't change that. But I do expect him to get the Lamar treatment (which I think is unfair to both, but rules are rules).

I don't even have a problem with them being the favorites next year. They are a really good team and took everything the "Dynasty" Chiefs had to get a win. I'm not gonna lie and say I wanna see them back again, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised lol.

This is a completely fair take and I would kinda agree with it. Like they could still have a trash roster on paper and clearly be not as good as teams like SF or BAL or MIA or whatever, but you just can't bet against Mahomes and Reid at this point.

Yep. Exactly. It’s not that I think the Chiefs are a better team. It’s that Mahomes is the x-factor and until he isn’t I just pick them to win against anyone. Talent be damned.

That last play was so open a fast WR like Hardman could score from midfield.

It's almost a copy of the Kadarius Tomey TD last year, also from inside the five-yard line. Why save it for the goalline?

Because the goal line and short yardage situations increase the chances of M2M being played vs zone coverage against that type of motion.
