SmittyBacall
Starter insurance was needed after Jonah Williams’ departure. This is probably the best case scenario. This doesn’t rule out tackle at 18, but doesn’t force our hand for year one starter.
Soko
Trent Brown notes, from a Pats fan - Some people are going to say he’s trash, both Pats and Raiders fans alike. Trent has ability. It just takes the right circumstances for that ability to show itself and be relevant. Better pass blocker than run blocker. - Dude gets hurt or nicked up a lot. A lot, a lot. Sometimes he manages not to miss games, but he lives in the injury report. Sometimes he gets pulled from games early. Practicing, he misses time. His knee is shot. - He’s lazy. Super lazy. He only shows up in contract years, and even then, he mailed it in this year. Some people might find that understandable, but reportedly he knew the team needed him on the OL, so he’d half *** it in practice, show up blatantly late to meetings, etc. He was a locker room problem, which is why you’ve heard absolutely nothing about NE trying to retain him for 2024, despite having a huge hole at LT. It caused dissension in the locker room, seeing him get a pass for things that others didn’t. Thats partly the coach’s fault, but he was taking advantage of the situation. - Only ever seen him be good at LT, not RT. Basically what everyone who’s loosely paid attention would say. He’s pretty good at LT when motivated and healthy. He’s lazy. He gets injured a lot. If you luck into him being healthy and he feels like caring, you’ve got a really solid T.
THE DUKE
Worth the risk and now they don't have to take a Billy Price like pick at 18 no matter what. Only 1 year, not huge money, going into a strong veteran oline group might help. We'll see.
sparky151
It's a (literally) big signing for the Bengals. Maybe the 1 year deal will keep him motivated. But we now have cover at RT if the draft doesn't fall our way.

Eagles $5$
It’s amazing that the Bengals still can’t protect Burrow.

Pretty much this, though I would say from a Raiders perspective that he (at times) was a really, really good RT when he could be bothered. He completely shut down a prime Khalil Mack, something not to be sniffed and looked like an All Pro at times his first year but then the laziness kicked in and ‘injuries’ and nicks every other week. Didn’t help our doctors managed to accidentally hospitalise him. He just doesn’t seem able to focus or keep interested and any little thing will put him off the path. Could have been a great, had all the tools but could be really useful for the Bengals if they can get and keep him motivated.

Burrow had a couple of significant injuries last season but neither was the fault of the O-line. In training camp, he pulled a leg muscle on a non-contact play and was limping for the first month+ of the season. Later in the year he tore a ligament in his throwing wrist but it wasn't caused by contact. He was sacked by Clowney on the play but that wasn't the cause of the injury.
