Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said at his Friday press conference that Addison is not going to play against the 49ers. Addison left last Sunday’s win over the Giants with an ankle injury and has not practiced this week.

The Vikings could be without a few other starters as well. Safety Harrison Smith was added to the injury report when he missed Thursday’s practice and he will be listed as questionable due to a hip injury.

Right tackle Brian O’Neill and right guard Ed Ingram will be in the same category. O’Neill’s elbow landed him on Thursday’s report while Ingram is a Friday addition with a triceps injury.

The Vikings are kicking off their practice week without wide receiver Jordan Addison.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell said at his press conference that Addison will not take part in practice on Wednesday. Addison will remain inside the team’s facility getting treatment on his injured ankle and O’Connell said the team will take it a day at a time from here.

O’Connell said the rest of the team is healthy as they move toward a Week Two matchup with the 49ers.

How in the world are the 49ers playing the Vikings again in Minnesota after doing the exact same thing last year?  Very odd schedule for an out of NFL North opponent.

Will be a hard game but a good test, doubt the 49ers will play like they did last year.  Those two INTs last year by Purdy were a big reason why they lost the game.  No McCaffrey helps but obviously Jordan Mason is hard to deal with considering how physical he is and they have Isaac Guerendo the rookie also and he could make some plays if need be also from the RB spot.

49ers having Kittle, Aiyuk and Samuel all healthy is a big problem and hard to deal with not to mention a healthy Trent Williams and Brock Purdy.  Greenlaw being out potentially is a big loss for the 49ers but Warner makes up for so many mistakes defensively.  If Hufanga cannot play will be an issue for them also but if he can play they clearly have a solid secondary and a really good pass rush with Bosa and Hargrave.

Could argue the 49ers are the best and will be the hardest team they play all season potentially, so if they preform well that will be a very positive sign regardless of winning or losing the game.

This is very specific, but we played @AZ in 2008 and 2009. I know that because I went to both. Weird part was that this was TJack then Favre. We won the TJack game but lost the Favre game lol. I'm 99% sure there is a formula to determine opponents every year and sometimes they just overlap.

Last year we played them because of us both being first in our divisions, this year we are playing against the entire NFC West division so different circumstances and you would have to compare to years ago when we last played the entire division.

To my memory, it's something like

  • 6 against Division
  • 8 against 1 AFC and 1 NFC division
  • 2 against same finishing 2 different divisions (AFC and NFC?)

And if those are right, I don't know what the 17th game is, does anymore know? lol

We play them this year because we're playing the NFC West...we played them last year because we won the division in 2022 and played the NFC West team in the same place in the division in 2023.

Remember when we played at Seattle 3 years in a row? Depending on how it shakes it out, there's the potential we could play Atlanta at home for each of the next 3 years (including this year), as we're also scheduled to have them at home in 2026.
