candyman93
He produces like a normal tight end, but not like a dude drafted #4 overall.
viking
I remember back during that draft cycle people said he would be the Megatron of the TE position. Not the biggest bust ever but he's up there for the last 5 years.
Tank4Drake
Brock Bowers is the greatest TE Prospect ever by just about every expert, draft guy, and especially analytic guys. Not Pitts. With that said, I have never thought Pitts is this blue chip prospect. He’s not athletic on tape as everyone thinks he is. Here’s what happened: No Combine that year. Covid year. I think his combine would have been terrible. And he would have fallen 15 spots in the draft and went around 20. The Falcons believed his Pro Day. His Pro Day was a mirage. Pro Day numbers are exaggerated by up to 40% in every category. He was always a mirage that benefitted from the covid year.
Justwinning
I don't watch a ton of Falcons film, but does Pitts not get separation? Analytics guys seem to think he has opportunities but nothing significant ever materializes. What gives?
El Ramster
Pitts seems to be headed for the Vernon Davis/Marcedes Lewis route.. Dunno man, just not clicking in Atl. I’ll still take Pitts over Bowers. That’s like saying you’ll take Jason Witten over prime Antonio Gates. I’m taking the brotha with wheels, height and athletic ability. We’ll figure out the rest baby.
SmittyBacall
I’m not writing him off until I see his usage increased. He’s been subject to some poor schemes.

Tank4Drake
Jason Witten - Brock Bowers might single handedly be the worst comparison I have ever seen on this forum in 19 years, lol. Like if I was gonna come up with an opposite of Bowers, it’s Jason Witten. His Professional Comp is George Kittle. Better route runner than Kittle, and a worse blocker, but they play extremely similar, especially YAC.

Which means every category is exaggerated. That 7.12 3cone is already bad… at the combine it’s probably 7.3. The 40 is likely a 4.51. Pitts got bailed out with no combine. He would have bombed it. TedLavie
In his 3 year career, he's 7th in yardage amongst Tight Ends. It isn't 4th overall material, but we've certainly seen worst busts. Also, he's 23, has been with bad/awful QBs those three years and Arthur Smith as a HC/OC most of his career. At a position where players tend to be slower to develop. So his career isn't over. Vernon Davis was a bust until he wasn't for example.

So those comments made in 2020 didn't have the benefit of foresight.

I'm not sure I buy the poor schemes thing....poor QB and some injuries. Arthur Smith loves him some tight ends. Pitts just wasn't able to take advantage of that with Ridder and the MCL. Straight line speed isn't everything
