Refugee
20 hours ago, Zycho32 said: I think there's nothing in his ratings that justifies that high of a finishing grade. Even if the aggregate is weighed against only his draft class and not seemingly every rated WR that ever took part in the combine. His numbers, according to those individual grades, range from Above-Average to Good. I guess I need to be schooled about their formulas in order to figure out why he's a 9.9 when he LOOKS closer to an 8.9. RAS is heavily weighted to benefit ht/wt of a player. Two guys run the same 40 but one is an inch taller and even 5lbs heavier they give a notable mark up. This guy comes in at 6’3 215 he’s going to get an amplifier and he does have strong athletic metrics. Doesn’t mean he’s an NFL player but big guys that can move are great lotto tickets on the PS if they can develop the details on their position. Rhyan has underwhelmed. It's only Kraft, which means turd round picks need to have a connection to cheese in their name. I hold out hope for Lloyd, but we shall see. Obviously a tough start but also at the moment, we don’t absolutely need him. That can change in a hurry so I hope he gets past his snakebites quickly. He brings a quick twitch and acceleration our other bruisers don’t. He’s still not a small man and is muscled up to his eyeballs. Being wound from steel cable might be part of his problem on the injury front. He’s going to have to learn to train to keep injuries at a minimum but even the best laid plans fall apart in the NFL. If it makes you feel better, this is an opinion board and my opinion of Rhyan is that he is not very good. That's probably more to do with how I saw his college game translate to the pro game at guard versus how his career has gone thusfar. By the other test, the team test, when the games mattered most last year, Rhyan lost snaps to Runyan. So he was beat out. This year the staff seemed hell bent on Morgan at RG until he kept getting injured. So one has to ask themselves if the staff tried to get a guy snaps, then tries to gives those snaps to another guy, perhaps the original guy isn't very good. So that's my metric, like it or not. In my opinion (I hate that I have to keep prefacing that, but since you are you, I feel the need to do so), in my opinion, Rhyan is not a player to point to and say that our Turd Round curse has been lifted. In my opinion *sigh. Kraft 100% is a hit. He's the one that has shown to be quite good. Lloyd is an unknown. Hopper is an unknown. Neither are off to a great start. Amari was a bust. Deguara may not have been a bust (I'm being nice here), but he also wasn't very good. Sternberger, bust. Burks, bust. Adams, bust. Fackrell was okay and I may be being nice here. Montgomery was okay. No bust, not much of a hit, but he was okay. Good for a little stretch. Thornton, bust. Richard Rodgers. Yuck. At least he made one play. Alex Green, bust.

And again, I didn't like that pick, but I feel that there is an NFL player in there.

Kraft is somehow the most reliable/solid TE since bubba franks. Marcedes was too much of a specialist. Seems like Musgrave might be as well. No need for a TE that plays like WR when you already have good WRs.

I imagine, being the good poster and human you undoubtedly are, you strive to have the bestest of opinions Consider my question an opportunity, not a challenge. I don't know whether Rhyan is or is not a "disappointment". My gut tells me that he's getting enough quality snaps currently that he's probably an above average third round pick. But I don't know. So I was seeking out reasons to change my opinion. Edited September 20 by incognito_man

Relative to other 3rd round picks, thus far he has been underwhelming in career approximate value and draft value

Mazrimiv
Rhyan will be the next Montravious Adams. Adams has been in the league for 9 years, and is a regular (37% snaps) in the PIT DL rotation this season. He was a bust in GB, but has proven to be a legit NFL player.
